"terrible rooms"

There are two areas: east and west. Do not attempt to go to the west side!

"Azimut"

8.0

The hotel was fine and the room was clean. Tough to not have an air conditioner when it never gets dark out - forced to keep the window open and it can get noisy and bright. Internet is spotty - when I called the front desk to let them know, I was told I didn;t have internet - which was a lie - just too lazy to look into it. That was a problem for me.

"a good experience-no problems"

8.0

Despite other poor reviews I found my stay in the Azimut Hotel to be fine. The staff could not be more helpfull and almost all speak excellent English. The resturant food is very good but a bit pricey and the breakfast buffet has good variety.

"It was expected"

6.0

From the reviews I was expecting a lot worse. But for the price and for backpackers like us it was worth it and we would stay there again. When you check in request a room with WIFI. We did not eat the breakfast there but had a pizza which was good but like all of St. Petersburg was expensive. There are several grocery stores nearby to buy food at but there are no refrigerators in the rooms. We ended up hanging the bags outside the window. The service was good and it seemed you could always find a person to speak English. The rooms themselves were not the best but it seems Russia is trying. yes, you could hear the neighbors t.v., the furniture was old and the paint is peeling from the bathroom ceiling. So, again, I would recommend this for backpackers but not as a luxury, romantic getaway. It was a nice walk from the metro, you have to cross over the bridge and the metro is very easy to figure out in St. Petersburg.

"TINY ROOM in a Bad Neighborhood"

4.0

It was clean, but its finest amenity was the in room bathroom. Tiny room, and let me reiterate that it was small. If you stay there ask to stay in the renovated area. We did not and it was not nice. It was clean, but just not nice. I would have been really upset if the room was not basically free with our airfare. If you want a basic no frills room that is tiny then go for it.

"not great for globetrotters"

4.0

The hotel was not conveniently located and the rooms were smoking rooms with traffic, elevator, construction and cleaners noise (thin walls). There was no internet in the room, had to walk to other building's lobby. Not much by way of help with bookings, only a few on offer. Also, smoking allowed so looy and resto were smoky! But decent espresso and the resto was good and open late and some of the staff were nice and helpful....

"Water stinks at the hotel"

4.0

It's an old soviet hotel with everything saved since Soviet times. Linens and blankets look like they are more than 50 years old. There is no fridge in the room. But the worst thing about the stay is the tap water. It's yellowish and stinks. If you turn the tap water on and stand next to the sink without leaning, you can smell how badly the water stinks. It's impossible to brush teeth or take a shower in such water. I guess, it's the problem with pipes, they are old, rusty and haven't been cleaned in a long while. Not sure if it's just a problem of the hotel or St. Petersburg in general. A good thing about the hotel was it's location (20 minute walk from subway) and free wifi. Surprisingly for Russia, it worked fine. I would recommend calling the hotel directly next time and finding out if their tap water is good. If the same - stay in a different area of St. Petersburg.

"Pretty good"

10.0

for such a price it's a good quality and good hotel. location looks not so convenient, but it takes 7-10 mins walk to the metro and 10-15 mins to reach the centre. plus you can check other St.Pete by living in this hotel.
