Pestana Casino Park Ocean and SPA Hotel

To the west of this architecturally distinctive 1960's hotel with an expansive property overlooking the ocean, high rise hotels on small footprints are crowding each other, competing for the view. There has been a lot of staff turnover since my previous visit less than a year ago (which I suspect is true everywhere), but they are friendly and helpful. The buffet restaurant is a convenient choice for dinner, and the dining room a spacious, glass-enclosed space with 25 foot ceilings. There are signs of new investment in the property, which is generally well-maintained. I would happily visit again despite other options.

Great clean hotel in convenient location

Enjoyed our stay. Buffet breakfast was a high spot, excellent. Communal areas expansive and impressive. Indoor pool and spa area was not crowded and was a very good experience. Good views from the rooftop deck area. If typical of Pestana properties will definitely use again.

This was our second stay at Casino Park this year. Our side sea room on 5th floor facing east was perfect. Had a great view of the sea, harbour, mountains and downtown Funchal. Only a 10 minute walk to downtown. Highly recommend.

This hotel surpassed my expectations. The design is iconic and the hotel whilst large is very spacious with good grounds and three pools so you do not feel overcrowded. My room overlooked the gardens and the port area it was very pleasant. There were plenty of sun beds The indoor pool and spa would be an added bonus on a day with poor weather. The location is excellent 10 minute walk to start of Funchal. We went everywhere on foot. Some excellent restaurants close by on other side of hotel too which were very good and reasonably priced. There is a supermarket close by. The gym is quite small but provides unlimited water to top up your bottles.

We enjoyed our stay at the Pestana. The landscaping, pools, property is lovely.

The pools at the hotel are great and so is the location but it is definitely not a 5-star hotel. The rooftop pool and the view from up there is amazing! The rooms are extremely dated and in need of an upgrade. The choice of food at breakfast is great but the food itself is marginal at best. There is always a line for the elevator as there are only 3 elevators for a 400 room hotel so it can be very slow. We also asked to play tennis and found out it was €16 for 1 hour to rent rackets and the court which was really expensive compared to other options on the island

Wonderful! We loved everything. Great views, pool, sauna, staff, breakfast, service…just everything.
