Waikiki Monarch Hotel

I really liked the location of this hotel and it’s surrounded by lots of convenience stores, gorgeous views, food trucks makes it pretty accessible and convenient.

The bedskirt looked dirty, old grease stains on it. Mold in the bathroom. Old, stained furniture, plastic mattress covers made the bed hot. Not a pleasant stay.

Room was dirty. Booking said pool and fitness center was open and available but upon arrival both facilities have been under construction. Booked the room based off location which was recently convenient to downtown

Didn't use the laundry setup. And I expected to use the hot tub but when I arrived and checked in was informed that the hot tub and pool was shut down for maintenance. I feel scammed. I had booked my reservations on the 29th and had been calling multiple times spoke to several different personnel at the hotel about different concerns before I even got there, one of them was my need for the jacuzzi and nobody informed me that it wasn't in service. I arrived late at night after my shift. I live on Oahu and I work. I took a bus and transferred three times was very tired. The personnel was very rude and impatient with me. I tried asking for a refund I also asked for a comp of some sort the man was very rude and distasteful I will never come back again or recommend this hotel to anyone. I am extremely dissatisfied and as a Kamaaina, I especially expected to be treated better. He gave me two complimentary drinks, after I asked for something and I told him I don't even drink what else you got. He said we got a gym. I just wanted to rest in a hot bath couldn't do that either cuz it's stand-up showers. I really looked forward to the jacuzzi. It was terrible I asked for a complimentary breakfast or something. He just got ruder and ruder. I'm still really just saddened by the experience. I feel ripped off. It's because from the time that I booked the reservation to when I actually came I had been in communication with them and they could have told me. Oh their parking garage smells urin

3 out of the 5 staff that we dealt with were rude, impolite, and did not communicate well. There were only 2 towels in each room (had 2 rooms with 3 adults and 5 children) and youre expected to use your room towels for the pool. The parking attendant yelled at us when we asked her if our big SUV was going to pass the measure pole. The rooms were small, ripped furniture, sticky floors, handle came off the shower, plaster patches on the walls,no controls to the air conditioner, the bed was not comfortablecockroaches in the room, one door had to be shoved closed in order to close. It is somewhere I will never return to. Im super disappointed as we're kama'aina and I do know that this is an old hotel, but they have obviously missed the mark on maintaining what could and should be an amazing hotel experience.
