Sonesta ES Suites San Diego - Rancho Bernardo

Location, staff and basic layout is very good.

Room is badly worn and in need of upgrade. Breakfast was in poor condition. Pancake maker out of order. Had to tell staff OJ was out. Same with coffee. With almost 30 minutes left we were almost out of everthing.

For the most part it was clean. But it had water ants and they showed up at night and it was alot!! They couldn't change my room that night and wanted me to wait around instead of enjoying my vacation to give me another room. And didn't offer any kind of discount.

Place was really nice, we enjoyed our stay!

Parking was very convenient

This is a very nice hotel, and I love that it is suite-style with a kitchen in every room. My stay was very comfortable, and the front desk attendants were all very nice and helpful. The breakfast was also very plentiful and with a good variety of items. My only complaints are that my unit had an ant infestation in the bathroom and bathroom sink areas, they don’t give enough towels considering housekeeping doesn’t come into the room during the stay, parking is very tight, especially when people park large trucks/vans or guests park over the parking space line, and that only one person is staffed at the desk at a time. On two occasions, I went down to the desk and had a long wait time because the attendant was addressing a guest issue. I know companies are trying to cut costs, but folks working in customer service should never be left alone to serve guests. There should always be at least two people. But, overall, I am glad that I found this hotel, and would definitely stay here again.

A very nice and calm place, overall good stay

I had a connecting flight from St Louis to Phoenix before flying to San Diego. The flight took off and 20 min later, the pilot announces that there was smell of smoke and that the plane was being turned around back to STL. It took 3 hrs just to get my luggage back. I did try calling your hotel, but was told It involved a 3rd party. I purchased booking protection plan, so hoping I get a refund due to the unusual circumstances.
