Red Lion Hotel Boise Downtowner

The room was clean. The bed was extremely comfortable as well as the pillows. My favorite was breakfast, everything was delicious. The eggs are the best eggs I have ever had.

Motel was nice and quiet

We were unable to turn the heater on because the boiler had been turned off however we did receive an extra blanket

I didn't like anything we arrived shortly after 8 p.m. to check in. They had no clean rooms. They had no idea when the room would be clean. They said they would call us when it was cleaned. At 9:00 I had no call and I had to get another room at another property, The Grove. Last-minute bookings are very expensive. Spent over $400. I'm waiting for a refund since I didn't stay there and did not have the opportunity to stay there because they had no clean rooms

The nicest thing I can say is it's not the worst hotel I've ever stayed at. Unfortunately, it isn't worth the price I paid at all. The pool was filthy and absolutely disgusting, so we were never able to swim. Ducks and geese swam in it, but we didn't. The sliding glass door from our room to the ground floor porch was very difficult to lock and the actual lock is in a very inconvenient location. I went to the front desk about the sliding glass door not locking (because there were some pretty sketchy looking people in the parking lot when we arrived and I didn't want to leave my belongings in an unsecured room) and was told we couldn't be moved to another room because they were all booked up. Then the general manager called me and told me there is a screw-lock on the bottom right corner of the door because he is aware that the lock on the door handle doesn't work. Additionally, there were gouges in the wall of the bedroom and bathroom. There were long black hairs on the floor in the bathroom (I'm bald, BTW, and my natural hair color is blonde). There were little black ink stains on our bed sheets. The thermostat on the wall was not set in the wall correctly, but was instead dangling out of the wall. Additionally, the thermostat heat/cool selector was broken off, so we couldn't cool the room, we could only get hot air, which sucked on a warm day. The cleaning staff never cleaned the room, never made our beds or cleaned the bathroom, but they did leave a spray bottle in the room. There was a black tar-like streak on the one piece of artwork in the room. And to top it all off, the mirrors were heavily streaked and there were handprints on them, as if the person who cleaned them doesn't know how to clean glass. Additionally, I had to pay extra for the breakfast, because they don't have free breakfast (what kind of hotel doesn't have free breakfast.) Moreover, the bar off the lobby was closed both nights we stayed there. The only good things that I can say about the hotel are that the hot tub (small as it was) was clean, and this hotel was conveniently located near the hotel were my mom and brother stayed, and after visiting them at The Riverside Hotel in Boise, we switched hotels because The Riverside is a much better, cleaner, nicer and friendlier hotel than the Red Lion Downtowner. You couldn't pay me enough to stay in this hotel again. It wasn't my worst hotel experience, but it was definitely in the top three worst hotel experiences I've ever had.
