Overall, i enjoyed my stay and would recommend it 2 non-smokers only! There should at least be a smoking area for those who choose to smoke.

Besides the fact that the maitenance man asked me did we have ants in our room after checking out it was decent for the price iPaid. I was a lil disturbed about he ant comment and was hoping there were no ants!

I have to travel to Birmingham several times a year on business so I always try to book a room with minimum frills and maximum value. After my experience with Sun Suites I am now changing my calculus. I consider myself a shrewd shopper and have saved hundreds of dollars by comparison shopping for hotels when I travel. When I saw the shockingly low rates for The Sunset Suites I was skeptical. The area the hotel is located in is fairly upscale and there are many others in the vicinity so I threw caution to the wind and plunked down my charge card and reserved the room. The hotel itself appeared nice from the outside but once in the office it was clear that this is definitely a bargain basement facility. The room itself was VERY tiny and spartan but clean with a refrigerator, stove, microwave, coffee pot, working TV and plenty of towels. The overhead fire sprinkler heads were still wrapped in masking tape from a recent repaint -- no big deal but the walls here are paper thin. I listened to the television in the next room ALL night but the worst part of all is pungent odor outside the building. The Sunset Suite is located directly across the street from a waste treatment facility, (I would have spotted this if I had used Google Earth beforehand). If saving money is your only parameter when looking for a room then this is the place for you. If not then my advice would be to plunk down that extra thirty five bucks and book another hotel.

I have stayed at this hotel before and was not so impressed the first time. I think possibly they give better rooms to the guests who make reservations. I say this because the first time i stayed the room was not nearly as nice or clean as the room I was given this time around. The room I got this time had hardwood floors throughout nearly the entire room and the bathroom only the bed area had carpet. The floors were clean, the bathroom was imaculate. The only not pretty things in the room were the cheap nasty plates, cups, and flatware they provide (not too surprising considering every room has a kitchenette) two random holes in the wall (which looked like it was cut for outlets that were never installed or lighting that was never put in) and the area underneathe the kitchenette sink (which was molded and falling apart) BUT considering how cheap the room was i didnt care and the fact that someone had actually cleaned the room it smelled clean and looked it was very nice. I wasnt bothered by the staff nor the other guests the entire weekend. The elevator although convenient was HOT and stinky! But with only three floors not such a big deal.. I will definately recommend this place for my company to use again! If I could always use that same room it would be awesome!

I used several hotels in the area for business travelers. The staff was courteous and my guests were comfortable.

It was fine and this is the second time I have stayed there. Quiet and good little rooms with hard floors so the carpet doesn't stink!

The room was very clean. I was surprised the rooms have a small kitchen. All modern amenities great AC etc. More than friendly service. I never write these comments but it was so great I just had to share!!! It was unbelievable for the price an absolute must stay. Comfort & walking distance to shopping mall & Wal-Mart

I was there for 3 days without cable then I bought a DVD player and some movies and didn't even have outlet for it then when they move me to another room the head board paint was falling off total all experience horrible!!!!!!

Im big on cheap hotels however if I say "Stay away" do it! The Quality of service Ok. Cleanliness of room/hotel they was trying to work on the place but it doesn't look good. Hotel amenities, yeah right..
