MainStay Suites Cedar Rapids North - Marion

Very nice and quiet

Upon entering room, could smell very musty/deep smoky smell like someone had at one point in time smoked in the room, though my reservation was for a non smoking room. Room overall was spacious, bed was pretty uncomfortable and was harder than we expected. Bathroom also lacked personal hygiene supplies (shampoo, conditioner mini bottles) also, room heating/cooling into did not work in our room. Facilities overall were clean. Vending machine area was too expensive, $2 for a can of soda is too costly when you can buy a 12pk for $6-$7..also, didn’t accept debit cards. Pool area lacked proper towels to dry off with and pool overall was pretty cold. Breakfast was a “grab and go style” and didn’t consist of much other than 1 type of muffin and some fruit. Would stay here again overnight just to have an overnight staycation as there was a pool for the kiddos.wouldn’t recommend for long term stays however.

Breakfast incredibly disappointing, no one seemed to care about controlling noise level. Stairs were dirty and decided to skip gym and pool since everything else seemed questionable. Definitely not an appropriate rating.

I did like the layout of the room, the location of the hotel itself was good, easy to get to restaurants and stores.

Could tell it was old, needed some updating. The bathroom had a drywall seem in the ceiling cracking and completely exposed. The mini split wouldn’t turn on, it worked but the display didn’t. It was unplugged upon arrival.

I can handle old, but the place was dirty. There are a black hairs on our bathroom towels, and my son questioned the cleanliness of the bathtub. Very thin walls so you could hear everything. Free breakfast was brown bananas.

Pleasantly sirprised about the room, nice suite for a family stay. Was very noisey diring the night and early morning. Slamming doors, yelling in the parking lot, sounds of heavy equipment. But did not ruin our stay.

Amazing rooms, and the staff is the best I've dealt with. I appreciate you greatly for having such a quality place for people to come enjoy. We really had a great time and look forward to coming back again. Thank you 🙏
