MainStay Suites Cedar Rapids North - Marion

We weren't in our room much (came to town for a wedding), but the room was nice and comfortable. It was quiet, so we slept well.

You get what you pay for. It’s a descent place to sleep for 1 night but if you’re spending a couple days somewhere I wouldn’t recommend it. That said , overall it was fine - a little rundown but everything was clean.

Open drug use from employees and guests. Meth head front desk attendant that was always missing. Unhoused and indigent are living here. My room was ground floor, and there was no screen and the window didn't lock. Do not walk. RUN. I wish I could submit the photos I took. 😳

Facility was clean. Evening staff was nice. Guests were noisy until early morning hours. The fire alarm went off multiple times in error. Breakfast was only a basket of muffins and juice. The tv and thermostat didn’t appear to work well. We won’t choose this one again.

The first room they gave us had damaged/dented appliances and the dishes were all dirty and still in the dishwasher. One glass in cupboard had dirty beverage ring in it. We asked for a different room. They gave us a room that either someone was still in, or they just left. The TV was still on, bed unmade, food and dishes on the table and kitchen. The whole place was unkempt and we opted to leave and get a new hotel.

I had multiple issues during my stay. Giving it a higher rating though because the staff & manager gave me a partial refund for the troubles.

The room had a bad odor. a stale cigarette smell but it was supposed to be a smoke free room. Outside was a lot of loud noisy people until late at night.
