Americas Best Value Inn Battle Creek

Needs lots of work. Was Motel 6 and sold. I can see why

The place is old and worn, but for the price the old and worn would be acceptable, but the filthy bathroom was inexcusable...

The hotel room we stayed in had BED BUGS. ROOM NOT CLEANED AT ALL. HOUSEKEEPING CAME IN AND CHANGED TRASH DID NOT CHANGE THE BED.WHY??NO REASON.

On the main shopping strip of Battle Creek. Check in was no problem. The room was at the very rear of the hotel, about 25 feet from eastbound I-94. Upon unpacking, we then noticed the shower/tub. It had not been cleaned, and there was mold at the bottom of the shower curtain. I went to the office for bleach and rags. I was given these, but no apology or offer to clean the bathroom, just to bring it back when I was thru.

I already have had a bad experience with Americas Best Value Inn, but I decided to give them another try because I was trying to save money for Black Friday shopping and I was hoping that not all Americas Best Value Inn's are as bad as the last one I went to...well I was wrong. This one was even worst. I did not even take a shower there, that is how disgusting the tub looked. The toilet did not have proper fitting parts and was very stained. The paint on the sink is chipped off all over, and it is clear they do not wipe anything down, the microwave and mini fridge were very dirty. Worst of all they did not have a smoke alarm in the room. I went down to complain, only to notice a sign hidden in the corner of the front desk that said "No refunds, if anything is wrong with your room, you must let us know within 5 min". Only thing they did right was have fresh bed sheets and pillowcases on our beds. Also the remote did not work to their 20yr old TV, and they claim to be a smoke free hotel, but each room we moved to reeked of smoke.

Well, the neighborhood was questionable. But the bulletproof glass at the front desk was the deal sealer--along with a shirtless man acting extremely hyper and jittery flashing a few rolls of $20 bills in his hand as he hustled along the upstairs walkway that crosses in front of the windows of the rooms. I'm just happy to still be on planet Earth to write this review.

Staff was friendly at time of check in but rude when key did not work.

The room was dirty the bathroom had hair on the toilet and there was hair in the tub I went and said something and the man behind the counter gave me cleaning supplies so I could clean it and it was late so I was going to and when I got started it got worse there was urine still on the toilet when I lifted the lid needless to say I went and got my money back and went somewhere else I would sleep in my car or on a bench before I ever would stay there or recommend it to anyone

The room smelled like smoke, the pillows were flat and uncomfortable. The door was hard to get open.

The bed was slopped horribly, woke up with severe back pain. No door on bathroom.
