Freddie Mercury Apartments

I strongly recommend this hotel. I booked a night on expedia but the wrong date. The manager Suleiman sorted it out. This is an excellent hotel for the price.

Great location, very close to all main tourist attractions. Staff was very curteous and helful. Very goood breakfast, especially local coffee.

If you're planning to stay at Tembo apartments, make sure to request the apartments directly opposite the main Tembo hotel. They have more apartments behind, which i do not suggest you stay in. My husband and I stayed in one those apartments only to be hit by the stench of sewage once we used the washroom. We requested to be moved to another room, but since the manager wasn't available, we got another apartment that also had plumbing issues. The next day the manager agreed to put us in the apartment building opposite the hotel, which was a pleasant stay. The rooms are bigger and had typical zanzibar furniture/style. Despite the initial plumbing nightmare, the staff were very helpful and friendly.

The room is decent however the location is not the best. The staff are difficult to get hold of. And we have to walk to the main hotel for breakfast - very inconvenient.

4th stay at Tembo. Best location in Stonetown. The main hotel is like a museum with lots of interesting artifacts. The terraces are majestic and the best place to watch the beach activity, the boats, the sunsets. The annex and apartments are clean and spacious. The staff are excellent

Room clean and secure. Beautiful view from restaurant which had a delicious breakfast - much variety.
