Mercure Bilbao Jardines De Albia

We stayed at this hotel for two nights during our visit to Bilbao. The staff were very friendly, and check-in was smooth and easy. We arrived a few hours early, and since our room was ready, they kindly let us check in early. The room was spacious, with a massive, comfy bed. The bathroom was equally generous in size, featuring a rain shower, his-and-hers sinks, and a bidet. Although the room didn’t have an iron, I’m sure reception would have provided one if we’d asked. Our room overlooked a street with a couple of nightclubs, but the sound insulation was excellent — we couldn’t hear a thing, even on a lively Saturday night. We had hoped to visit the spa on Sunday, but were disappointed to find out it’s closed that day. It seemed an odd choice, as Sunday feels like the day guests would most want to relax. The hotel’s location was excellent — walkable to key attractions, with parking available for an additional charge.

Best place to stay

Spotlessly clean nice area, but noisy from a nearby nightclub on a Saturday night, okay with window closed. Bar and restaurant small, for the size of the hotel, plenty of choice nearby. Walking distance to Guggenheim and riverside walks. Area felt safe. Hotel car park isn’t easy to find and very tight to navigate, but is safe and secure.

In the city centre, close to the old town. Nice area.

This is a beautiful hotel, but it is totally ruined by the Stage Live nightclub across the street. It should be five stars for the fantastic room, the lovely staff, the central location and the value for money. But none of that stacks up against a poor night’s sleep and rowdy people partying until 6am. I wish I’d paid more attention to reviews mentioning the noise. I would have asked to move rooms if I’d known how bad it would be (if there are any quieter rooms!). On that basis, I wouldn’t recommend despite the beauty of the hotel and the friendliness of the staff.

All fantastic a part from the. Club outside our window where teenagers drank and shouted until early hours. Of course, that’s not the hotel’s fault.

Great all round hotel with friendly helpful staff. Excellent location for walking to bars, shops and the metro. Do use the metro to explore suburbs, beaches and past industry.

Location is perfect, betwixt the river front and the old town. Some nice bars nearby, the room was spacious and clean, and the breakfast was good.

Great hotel centrally located and short walk to all the main sightseeing in Bilbao. Good size rooms and friendly staff.

This is the fourth time I have used this hotel and will return again next year.
