Greengos Hotel

Cool location in the jungle- its only a 10 minute walk to Semuc Champey so super close and easily accessible, but it’s a 25 minute drive from the town of Lanquin so you pretty much eat at the hostel restaurant the entire time. 4 bed female only dorm was great and spacious. Cave tour was super cool too. You pay for the food you ate only at the very end when you check out. Remember to bring extra cash (or they take card with a 6% fee).

No lockers inside the room I was in, and no mirrors there or in the bathrooms. Would’ve liked more food options too since you can’t really go anywhere else, like maybe more local dishes instead of pizzas and burgers. It’s a social hostel too so may not be the best if you go to sleep early, it was quite loud until about 11pm each night with different activities (music bingo, karaoke, etc), though they are fun if you want to participate in them.

Loud music (the windows are mesh not glass) Miscommunication about hot water (we found out on our last day that the shower needs to run for 5 mins or more to get hot) No info about gluten free food.... they had gf pasta but it's not on the menu!

Location is close to the park, but thats it.

They very misleadingly advertise as a hotel but it is not. It is a party hostel. If you want any semblance of quiet do not go here (i.e. loud music until midnight and loud people all night long). It is fine as a party hostel although heavily overpriced. Private rooms are a joke too. Curtains dont close all the way, no glass in the windows only musquito nets.

What a great spot! Not only is it so vibrant and social, it's also incredibly beautiful and has soooo many areas to relax in. Most people come for 1 night or 2, check out Semuc and leave, I actually stayed for 3 because I found it was really great place to slow down and chill for a few days. Staff was great, pool was amazing, accessibility to Semuc and the river are unmatched. I also did a very sweet chocolate tour through the hostel with a neighbouring family, it was great to support the local community and make our own chocolate! Bonus tip: they have a huge home theatre you can use anytime, take advantage!
