For the listed price, I would have to say we originally thought it was very steep, but with the hotel service and the breathtaking view, I would say every penny was extremely well-spent. I noticed several people noted that the hotel was relatively out of date, but nothing is in disrepair, albeit perhaps a bit old. Even then, you could tell the furniture and amenities were top-notch during its prime. Honestly, for what you pay, it's completely worth it. Compared to similarly priced rooms such as the W Hotel in Taipei, the service was far better, the room almost double in size, and not to mention the incredible view. Definitely worth the price and a visit!

I wrote to Hotel.com to cancel my booking with full refund due the sudden change of policy of Taiwan government to all visitors from Hong Kong that would be required to have 14-day quarantine upon arrival. Thus policy only came two days before my suppose check-in time with the hotel. I contact the hotel direct but they said I should deal with it with Hotel.com. As at todate, I receive no reply from Hotel.com. As a Gold Member, I am extremely disappointed by time. I won’t use Hotel.com again.

The manager left us a small gift since it is the Christmas season and we are away from our families. That touch was quite endearing.

Beautiful property with exceptional service (the staff was incredible), great views (best location around Sun Moon Lake based on our tour around the lake) and an amazing infinity pool that overlooks the lake. The property was private and relaxing, and our room was big and comfortable (not modern but lots of historical charm). Our room also had a nice bonus patio with lake views. We had a wonderful stay and would return!

Perfect service and hotel. Meal are also one of the best.

There should be no parallel to The Lalu with its unique setting, masterful crafting of architecture and beautifully sited rooms with a grand view of Sun Moon Lake.
