The Lalu, Sun Moon Lake

Stunning views, incredible service, amazing spa. Had the pool suite -- it was spacious and beautiful. Had a slight medical issue - hotel staff was beyond helfpul in finding a doctor and checking up on us. The Japanese restaurant was delicious!

Nice contemporary hotel from the outside but ageing on the inside. We booked a lakeview suite and while the view was beautiful, I couldn’t help but notice the deteriorating condition of the bathroom area such as mildewed tiles and cracked or missing grout in the toilet and shower areas which gave them a “dirty” look. The natural slime green color of the tiles didn’t help with the aesthetics either. The toilet is old fashioned with the flusher on the wall that you have to press hard to make it work. If you have long nails or are arthritic, it could be a challenge. There were missing tiles around the flusher which added to the worn-out vibe. Public areas were clean, but once again you will see signs of neglect with big cracks on the floor, peeling rooftop outside, dated furniture, and stains in the elevator. Service-wise we didn’t have any problems. Our requests were all taken care of promptly. The hotel has a lot of potential if only management would invest the money to restore this property to its former glory.

LaLu is a very prestigious hotel! The staff are very attentive and hands on for service requests. The dining options are very limited and what they offer are expensive and not too much choice. Around the immediate hotel area don’t have much food choices either! The hotel ground has lots of inserts especially mosquitos make sure you have bug spray! Overall LaLu is a well maintained old style hotel!

Incredible hotel in a breathtaking setting overlooking the lake with mountains cloaked in clouds. It rained a lot when we visited but we still had an amazing time and came out thoroughly refreshed

Hit and mostly miss. For a connecting room that costs almost 1800usd per night, this is one of those properties I sense they're trying to milk you down. The lalu focuses on local tourists, so there is little information about the properties. Reminder I stayed at Aman, fs, and even many exotic properties before. 1. Services are very gray. I paid 14k nt for the return car; in the email, the reservation said I could drop by Taichung for a bit. So we found a place to stop by, and we were billed extra hours even when the driver drove very slowly and dropped to the toilet stop. Information is not clear. No water in the car as well. 2. Room needs a good revamp, it has been a good 20 years, and the toilet flush is too deep and complex; if you're old or have long nails, you might break your nails. 3. Rooms are dark, not about the kelvin, but need a stronger light. Very hard to do makeup if you are a woman. No full-body mirror. Just one small mirror. 4. Housekeeping doesn't even clean properly. The rooms are dusty. Turn down water is not replenished. Not enough water to drink. 5. Sauna needs to pay more, even when you pay for the spa. Spa facilities are not included. Remember, this room costs at least 800usd per night per room, and the spa is around 4k NT per person. Sauna needs to pay 600 NT additional. 6. So many additional that you were probably only paying for the views. 7. Beddings need to replace—no down pillow. 8. Most of the activities are extra (again). Only yoga is free, but the coach is not around — The only positive about this resort is the views and the people. They have a beautiful boutique. But the management is just a turn-off.
