I have used the Westin at the airport several times, either during long scheduled layovers or when a connecting flight was cancelled. Itโ€™s a lifesaver! You arrive tired or irritated, and the there is a nice room and excellent room service. You depart for your gate through an easy and fast TSA checkpoint at the hotel. Itโ€™s the best.

No complaints.

"Great hotel!"

Was our saving grace. We got stick in Detroit airport overnight. Very friendly. We had no toothbrushes, toothpaste or fresh clothes. They supplied us with toothbrushes and toothpaste. The restaurant have us a bit of extra time because we were there so late and were very friendly.

"expensive, average hotel, lousy bar, food, service"

average westin hotel, nothing special. obviously, cater to stranded passengers and those flying out early in am. as such, they get a hefty feeโ€ฆ..room advertises for $450, but after fees, taxes, misc charges are added, one night was close to $700. restaurant and bar were dirty, food choices limited and lousy. service was nearly non existent. only positive was front desk person checking me inโ€ฆโ€ฆ..

"Stuck at DTW overnight."

After a series of unfortunate events, we ended up stranded in Detroit overnight and were happy to find a Marriott property inside of the airport. The lobby had a great vibe, the lady who checked us in was very nice, and the room was clean and quiet. I have to admit the softness and comfort of the bed and pillows gave me the best sleep of my life. So much so, attempted to purchase the pillows on Westin's Heavenly Bed website, but they weren't available. The only real drawback was the woman who worked at the bar. Since it was only 4 or 5pm, we decided to hang here most of the night. At first, we were only 2 of 4 there. Nice wine selection for an airport hotel she seemed like a nice woman in taklikg to her. Then, as other flights were canceled and the hotel filled up, she continually ignored us to focus on others at the end of the bar, which was now full. We had to ask for more wine and water several times before she'd follow through. At one point, she poured the rest of a bottle out in my glass, someone called out to her, and she left me. For almost 20 minutes, I had a quarter of a glass of wine before she finally came back and opened a new one. Trying to order dinner was not fun either. She definitely needs to learn to focus on one task at a time and check in with everyone at the bar on a regular basis - for a while the couple next to us were going through the same thing with her. I also noticed that while they seemed to have plenty of staff walking around behind the bar, it was only her and another taking care of all bar orders and table orders behind us. I'm sure they could've been better staffed.
