Gateway Mountain Lodge, A Vail Resorts Property

Thought this was a condo when booking, but it was a hotel room. A condo has a kitchen and this only had a "kitchenette". I was disappointed when I realized couldn't cook the food I brought! Will make sure I read the fine detail better when booking a "condo"! I have never seen a "condo" without a kitchen!

Do not expect much from this Hotel but it will get you within walking distance to the Gondola. However, not a short walk. Room was spacious but whoever set it up needs a lesson. The bed is fold out and the doors wouldn't fold all the way back due to the close proximity of other furniture. The hallways were like a sweat locker, which made the stransit to the hot tub doable in a bathing suit...

Checking in was not easy as the front desk is down the street from the condo building we stayed at. This is not a hotel it is a property management company. Once checked in finding the rooms/parking was not easy. It would be a disaster if you ever got locked out and had to go back to the front desk. We were expecting 2 king non smoking rooms, one ended up being a small room with a murphy bed! The other was a gross king with cheese and crumbs on the counter in front of the microwave! They did move us out of the murphy bed to a nice bed for day 2 of 3. There was a plumbing problem, we had no water in either room when we got back from skiing. The wifi was terrible but did work sometime enough to check simple emails. There is NO restaurant in the hotel, there is a cafe in the attached building but it is not a hotel restaurant as described. Rather than ask for any kind of refund for our trouble we simply asked to check out a day early and the hotel and hotel.com told us we would have to pay for the 3rd night. Awful awful stay.

Was very skeptical about staying here after reading the reviews but was very pleased with our room. We have two kids. There was a pull out bed from the couch, which was perfect for my 6 year old. The room was large enough for our pack and play and was no cramped. The room was nice and updated. Amenities very close. Pool was nice. Very good stay for price!
