Elysian Beach Resort

Have been coming to this property for years. The positives, the room was in perfect condition and the grounds are very well kept. The staff at checkout were VERY good. The NEGATIVES a boat is shipwrecked in the middle of the beach, what an eyesore with crime tape all around it and empty beer cans, etc. in it. What an eyesore. See picture. No one could tell us what the plan is to have it removed. Also the check-in staff was very rude with no acknowledgement of the number of years we had been coming there, etc..

1. Beach and pool were both beautiful. 2. Wonderful views. 3. Sangria (restaurant) was good. Caribbean Fish Market was excellent (we ate there 3x). 4. Studio was spacious; full kitchen is a great feature.

1. THE STAIRS! It's a good thing that my partner and I are in good shape b/c climbing THREE flights of stairs to and from our room [Y-143] to the pool/beach/eateries was a HIKE. Booking.com did not warn us about this. BEWARE!! 2. For $700 per nite, a Murphy bed is unacceptable. The mattress was old, sags and needs to be replaced. 3. The evening staff at the front desk needs improvement. One young lady resented the fact that I asked her to find me a cab company that accepts credit cards! One evening I left a phone message on the machine and nobody ever responded. 4. Consider adding a small convenience store where people can buy milk and other necessities. 5. The hotel is within walking distance of nothing. A cab or Uber is vital to go anywhere, and cabs are pricey, even for short jaunts.

We loved that we could go right out to the beautiful beach. We would have breakfast at the restaurant and then go out for the day. It was great to have Eric the taxi driver there to get us where we needed to be

Check in was delayed by 1 hour as room was not ready but management resolved issue to our satisfaction. We had a king suite that was comfortable and roomy. Clean and plenty of storage. View was great. There are two eateries on site an overpriced for an Island restaurant called the Caribbean Fish Market and Sangria's. Food was excellent as was the service.8 dollars per person can ride to red hook that has great restaurants. Negatives There is a sail boat abandoned on the beach from Hurricane Ernesto and the beach is shared by a condo association Cowpetbay East West obstructing the view. No one is interested in having it removed Some of the Cowpetbay condo association members engage in bullying behavior led by a Jack and Judy who stake out a position under some trees and a sign in the beach called "The office '. I witnessed one of them actually move a patrons chair after they went into the water for no reason at all other than they were a " Snowbird". Other condo association members arrived and kissed the proverbial rings of the bullies gossiping about a Matt and how greedy he was ( compensation issue). Management company. Not worth the hassle of dealing with territory issues when you are on Vacation.

This place was definitely not up to my expectations. The room was a decent size, was clean, most things were in working order. The instructions to get onto WIFI in the room did not work. We logged into the room next door instead. We were never able to get the tv to work. If there is a baby or loud kids in the room next door you will definitely hear them all night. The walls are made of paper. The golf cart shuttle was a plus since there is about a thousand steps to get from building Y to the pool, restaurants and lobby. Just call the front desk. There is nothing within walking distance besides the onsite bistro, pool bar, and over priced restaurant. You need a taxi or rental car to get anywhere. Go to Red Hook nearby for some meals and grocery store. Front desk staff were very friendly and nice. Location is good for visiting Red Hook ferry or going to Coki Beach.

We recently returned from a 2 week stay at a private unit (Vrbo) with privileges on property. This Wyndham Club resort is formally a time-share property and some owners retained their unit ownership. This lovely property sits on Cowpet Bay, and beachfront use is protected somewhat from the trade winds. The building layout is spread A- Z with A being closest to the pool and beach. Building Z is probably a 20 flight of stairs walk to the pool. Our unite in building B has no step to the unit front door. Our walk to the pool was 2 levels down the stairs to reach the pool. The amenities we found extraordinary: beach towel exchange, pool and grounds kept immaculate, clean rest rooms conveniently located off the pool, pool bar open 12-5 “ish” Tues-Sunday, and restaurants on property: Sangrias on the Beach and Caribbean Fish Market. The Elysian is convenient to the East End village of Red Hook (ferry to St John), however walking is impossible into town due to narrow and hilly roads. Many taxis are available to run all over the island. An activity stand is also on property to book kayaking and other water activities. Some units are dated and in need of sprucing up, but if you have a full kitchen to make meals it’s a great resorts in a quiet area approximately 30 minutes from the airport.

My wife and I stayed here for 9 mostly terrible nights from late January through early Feb. Signed a non-refundable/non-changeable deal, otherwise would have bailed out. The noise here is unbearable. At night we had party neighbors in the room next door keeping us up for 3 days. In the morning, for 3 other days, some overlapping with the above, early risers in room above us got up at 6-615am. Unbeknownst to them, when they sat on their patio and moved their metal chairs around constantly, the sound resonated through the floors like a ship horn. After sliding their chairs, they'd lift and bang them on floor, then slammed their sliding door shut. This sequence would repeat every 5-10 minutes for 1- 1 and 1/2 hours. Ear plugs and pillows over our heads didnt help. During the day the leaf blowers and tree trimmers worked for hours closeby. Constant loud noises morning, day and night. We went to the front desk and complained and exchanged vmails with the manager who never followed up. Also complained to night security that neighbors were in violation of "quiet policy" from 11pm to 7am, but to no avail. There is no concern here for guests. Front desk was not even apologetic and punted to the manager who was not available and unresponsive to calls. On the positive side, beach was great. The standard studio king room was small but adequate. Red Hook location was pretty good. But for the price tag, it was the worst price-performance I have ever seen in my life (and I am an experienced traveler over 40+ years). Did not live up to a premium resort standard but priced at very high end. A better option would be a sleeping bag on their beach if you value a good night’s sleep. Seriously, would recommend you look elsewhere for a relaxing vacation with fair value for the money. I've had much better Holiday Inn Express or Hampton Ill experiences in my years of biz travel.
