Hare & Hounds Newbury

Lovely pub/hotel. Very comfy and well appointed rooms. Excellent staff, very friendly and welcoming. Food excellent especially the Sunday roast. Would definitely recommend staying there.

Stayed here a few years ago and liked it, decided to pay a return visit as we were in the area on child minding duties. We liked • Easy to find & plentiful parking • Friendly welcome • Well equipped room & large comfortable bed • Thoughtful little extra touches (carafe of sloe gin) • Complimentary drink at the bar for booking direct • Good choice of food and drinks at dinner • Friendly, welcoming staff • Breakfast a bit Fawlty Towers-ish but in a nice way • Perfectly cooked poached eggs What we didn’t like: • Only being able to stay for one night What stood out for us was how friendly and helpful all of the staff were, even when busily dashing around in the restaurant.

Stayed 1night for a business trip, have stayed several times so knew what to expect..opted for a deluxe room but didnt see any difference from a standard room..the room was very small but perfectly formed, had an excellent nights sleep. Lady on reception at check in was lovely despite being very busy, and helped me out with no fuss when i locked myself out of my room. Will stay again next time im in Newbury.

Lovely rooms, nice design, comfortable beds, with lots of little extras. Great breakfast, I had the full English - expertly cooked with local ingredients. Ideal location for Newbury races, friendly professional staff, we really enjoyed our stay.

Neat little touch with the slow gin and the room was great!

Property was lovely and cosy. Also we had EV and there was charging facilities. Food was reasonable and good quality. Rooms was amazing and clean. The price was unbelievable for the quality of the room. Highly recommend

It is an ideal spot. We went to the races at Newbury. The room was comfortable and clean. The food was excellent. The main issue was staffing, there were simply not enough. Apparently 2 of their bar / restaurant staff called in sick. It was chaos and very slow. Sophie (duty manager) did her best and was excellent, but it was an uphill struggle with the rooms, bar and restaurant all full !!

The staff and the Haire and Hounds absolutely made our stay. At check in Max was personable and friendly, helping us check in quickly and efficiently. Bar and service staff were attentive and made us feel very welcome. The cleanliness of the rooms were exemplary and the beds were very comfortable indeed.

Amazing afternoon tea celebrating a friend’s birthday after walking our dogs. Food was delicious and a lovely selection of sandwiches, cakes and scones. The red velvet cake and eclairs were my favourite!!! Very attentive service, we really enjoyed ourselves. Highly recommended
