Hare & Hounds Newbury

We booked multiple rooms for our company weekend, enjoying the races and staying at the wonderful Hare & Hounds. We will be returning next year!

Kind staff excellent food

A beautiful place decorated to a high standard. Comfortable room. The food and service not quite there yet.

We booked a last minute room here as we were out for dinner locally for a celebration and although we could have got a (very expensive) taxi home, it seemed more relaxing to stay over in town. The rooms here are lovely; really nicely decorated and equipped. Although our room was relatively snug, it was well appointed and had a separate dressing area and a decent sized shower room. Loads of nice little touches - toiletries etc, as well as a shot of sloe gin and a Nespresso machine. Our room was directly on the road so a little noisy (especially on a rainy and stormy night) but as it was a late booking, we expected this might be the case and the hotel had thoughtfully provided some ear plugs (and some sleep spray!). Breakfast the next morning was really good - clearly locally sourced and well cooked. Staff are perky and welcoming. Overall, we were really impressed. This is literally 10 minutes' drive from our house but we would definitely stay again if we didn't want to drive home. It really is a great pub and hotel - not just a pub with rooms as they have really through it all out very carefully. Plus there is free parking and it's pet friendly. Recommended.

It was a lovely stay at the Hare and hounds. The room was very cosy and the bed was super comfortable along with the amazing bedding. Great breakfast in a beautiful place

Was looking for a dog friendly hotel last minute to get away with my wife from the hustle and bustle of home life for the weekend. This place certainly did not disappoint and was so happy with our choice. If you want a relaxed stay at a pub/restaurant/inn/hotel to unwind for a night or two then I highly recommend the Hare and Hounds. Stayed in a King Deluxe (with our dog) and loved the layout and decor. The dog treats were a nice touch in the room. So relaxing. Lovely walk in shower with rainfall head. We ate in the bar with the pooch and loved the food. Perfect for a saturday night with a relaxed vibe Above all, were the friendly staff. So helpful and friendly and made us feel really welcome and make us want to come back again. Special mention to Rachel on the front desk and Poppy in the restaurant who we could not speak more highly of and lovely friendly smiles! The other staff we met were all great. Didn't want to go back home as only booked 1 night! Thank you. Was exactly what we needed

Drove past this establishment everyday for last 2 years without popping in and finally did today for a quick pint with my partner after a brisk walk and I can certainly say it was worth and will definitely be coming bk to eat.Met a manager who was friendly and happy to see me and valued my comments.Also one member of staff who was friendly and polite. Great place highly recommended

Cant fault anything, everything from check-in to the room, the food and the service is first class.

Second visit. Will be back!
