Ocean Maya Royale Adults Only - All Inclusive

We just spent 13 days here, our 4th time. Overall its a great place. We keep coming back because of Yovannetti. She is the sunshine of Mexico! There is no one better. She is an amazing server and a better person. We also like Octavio at the main bar. He is a wonderful young man. All the staff here are above average and we appreciate that. The food is way above average, a great culinary team. I do have to say that the shows and entertainment in the evenings are not as good as it used to be. We appreciate the upgrades to the facility and know its costly. Please do something about the evening entertainment. Thank you!

I booked a last-minute trip to this resort. I was more than happy with my experience. I like that you didn’t have to make reservations for dinner. The food was delicious. They had pizza and ice cream by the pool every day. The resort is small and easy to get around. My room was near the pool and I liked how close I was to the pool and the beach but also a quick walk to the main lobby for breakfast each morning. The vibes were perfect and the staff more than friendly. Shout out to Joni and Miguel at the pool bar and Octavio at lobby bar for attention to detail and friendliness. One pool was more of a party vibe but there were lots of places to go near the beach that were a little more quiet and chill. If you are travelling alone you will definitely be left alone in my experience. The other guests were not super friendly. Mostly couples who kept to themselves (no complaints.) If you want something social/party vibes it might not be the place to go if you are alone.

At at El Charro, Celine our waitress was polite and very attentive. The food was amazing and the atmosphere was chilled and relaxed. Would definitely recommend.

Love the hotel & entertainment staff - specifically Viri - were great fun. Would defo come back again.

We had a lovely vacation at Ocean Maya Royale! The resort was a quieter resort but the entertainment staff did an excellent job at keeping us busy! A special thanks to Viridana, Gustavo and Margarita from the entertainment crew and Miguel from the pool bar! You all were fantastic and made our stay wonderful. The food was fantastic! We really enjoyed all of the restaurants.

THE MANY FACES OF OUR OCEAN MAYA ROYALE FAMILY... Please bear with me, this is going to be quite long... I am so very pleased to provide another great review of our month long stay at OMR this year! Initially, as usual, I had thought of including various photos of the food, the immaculate grounds, rooms, buildings, beach, etc. But for this review I have chosen to only post photos of some of the various staff members in order to showcase and concentrate on the efforts and relationships that have always made our stay at OMR the best experience ever! Our OMR Family!!! I apologise ahead of time to those that I fail to mention in the review, it is not done intentionally, just so many names and faces to remember. I know that once I post this, I am going to remember someone I missed. Please know that mentioned here or not, all of you hold a special place in our hearts. And away we go... Thank you to Carolina and all of her staff in the Administration and Privilege office. You always welcome my wife and I with open arms and a "Welcome family"! each and every time we arrive. Within 5 minutes we already feel as if we are home once again. You and your staff look after our needs to the best of your abilities and always with a smile and a "no problem, it's a pleasure" still rings in my head. Thank you to Kevin, Concierge and all of the front of the line staff that look after our bags, etc. upon arrival. (And always remember our welcome cocktail while we check in). Thank you to Juan, our butler, our very good friend! You have always been our #1 go to guy! Our requests, without fail, are always taken care of, always with a smile, a positive attitude and never a complaint! You are kind, sincere, funny, a true gentleman, a professional at your job and a very kind soul! We truly appreciate all that you do! To the other butlers, Leidy, David, Alfredo, you guys are also just the best! We saw you every day interacting with other guests and also chatting with us and I would not hesitate to recommend either one of you for your services. And Leidy, what a smile and truly gracious attitude! Our beach server, Jesus... man what can I say about him. He is on the go and puts on a lot of miles every day!! Jesus always has a smile and a hello, remembers our drinks year to year without us even reminding him. He is a very hard worker and deserves a great amount of praise for the work that he does, the service that he provides each and every day. He is a kind soul with a heart of gold. He is the best on the beach in my opinion and a true friend to us! Carolina and staff in the Privilege Restaurant... we have known Carolina for 7 years now and have found a great friend in her. Her staff, Ilsa, Sophie and Esperanza are wonderful, treat us very well and are all kind, wonderful people. And not to forget, Fabian making the drinks behind the bar for Privilege restaurant and beach service during the morning/afternoon. (Not sure if I missed someone there). Food is awesome and service is great! Jorge Casanova and the staff at Dolce Vita Restaurant... this very kind gentleman has become very close to my wife and me. He is kind, respectful, fun and funny, professional, a character, soft-spoken, good hearted, smiling, caring, I laugh (in such a good way) when I think about him. He has taken us under his wing, the "Godfather" and treats us as his family. My wife always jokingly says she wants to take him home with us!! The staff that work in the restaurant are also exceptional. Roberto behind the bar, Alberto, David, Carla looking after the guests dining needs. The chefs sending out awesome plates! (Sorry if I missed any) Javier Vergara Quinto and staff at Blue Moon Restaurant... Javier too, has become very close to my wife and me. Javier is always welcoming us with open arms and a big hug, a gentle smile and warm heart. He too is very kind, professional, respectful, fun and funny in his own way too and also very much a true gentleman. We treasure that Jorge considers us "family" and will always consider him the same! The staff at Blue Moon are wonderful too! Very professional, on the ball attending to your every needs in a timely manner. Young David has come a long way and is excellent! Hilda and Ermilo also excellent. All in all a great team!! La Hacienda (buffet) Restaurant... we went for the buffet several times for dinner and we were never disappointed. Always something that suited our tastes and plenty of options to choose from. Capitan Miguel Briones always found his way over to say "hello, great to see you". His staff, always friendly, quick to serve drinks, clear plates, etc. Lizbeth was awesome as well as others. Truly enjoyed the personalized servings from Chef Aldair at one of the grill stations! Lobby bar... while we did not frequent too often, I can definitely attest to the fact that the staff/bartenders there are awesome!! Any time we stopped by there, day or evening, service was awesome, friendly, professional, fast and served with a smile. Drinks were perfect, no complaints at all. Augustyn, Octavio, Reynaldo, Yovanetti, Jose outstanding staff! (I'm sure I missed someone, sorry) Mikes Coffee.... Augustyn is the best for his coffee!! I don't drink it, but my wife loves the coffee there and Augustyn always remembers her and her special coffees. El Charo... something new for this year was the outdoor grill that served pizzas all afternoon and on Tuesdays changed to burritos. This was a game changer for a lot of people and was truly enjoyed by all! Very smart idea. Dinners at El Charo were very good, lots of variety to choose from. Unfortunately, I did not gather names from there but will attest to the service and quality of food. Yookoso and Sports Bar... again, did not partake in either of these, so cannot really reliably comment. I did not hear any negative reviews or comments on either while we were there. Sports bar apparently has great wings!! Housekeeping and room services... We have been very fortunate to enjoy the housekeeping services every year with Eneida Chima. Eneida is a beautiful lady with a beautiful smile, an infectious laugh and a heart of gold. Again, the word "family" comes to mind and we are privileged to be part of Eneida's family. Her housekeeping services are always top notch. Eneida anticipates rather than waits. What I mean by that is she is looking after and completing a service before you even need to ask for something to be done. On a personal note, my wife has a house cleaning business here at home and Eneida not only meets but pretty much exceeds my wife's expectations for cleanliness. Our room sparkles and is always fresh when we return from the beach. Personally, we love her to pieces, she is a true friend of ours and we miss her the minute we leave OMR. Entertainment Staff... I am sorry that I do not have names of staff from this area. My wife, friends and I usually stuck to the Privilege beach on most days so we did not really get to know the entertainment staff. I do know from comments from other guests that the entertainment during the day was awesome and definitely a lot of interactive fun. Evenings we enjoyed some of the shows and again, sorry no names here but did enjoy many shows over our time there. Honourable mention to Margarita Hernandez! We have known Margarita for 7 years. She always has a wonderful smile, very friendly, great personality and definitely knows her job. We always welcome her when she comes around visiting the guests. Margarita is always the "go to person" for any kind of excursion and is highly recommended. And also... thank you to all of the groundskeepers and crew that keep Ocean Maya Royale looking as beautiful as it does each and every day. And thank you to all of the staff "behind the scenes" doing laundry, cleaning washrooms, corridors, walkways, delivering sheets, filling mini fridges, etc. You are the unsung heroes. The attached photos reflect just a few of the many faces found at Ocean Maya Royale. These are the people that make your vacation a truly great vacation. They work their butts off in order to please you, accommodate your needs and ensure that you enjoy yourselves. Next time you are here, take the time and say "hola" to them. Such an amazing trip! I went with my now fiancée and we had the best time. The experience team made our time here memorable, especially Gustavo! He is truly amazing, he did a perfect job of getting people involved with all the activities during the day and evening. He never failed to put a smile on our faces whenever we would see him, so welcoming and engaging. The atmosphere was overall wonderful, lots to do whether it be excursions or just the activities on resort. The bartenders were also awesome and provided excellent service throughout our stay. The location was perfect! Close to Playa Del Carmen for afternoon shopping trips, close to Tulum for some adventure and sightseeing and so much more. Our room was clean and comfortable, food and restaurant staff were excellent, we have no complaints and would definitely go again.

I hope to return to this resort and everyone was very kind and wanting to help guests to have a good time. There are some drawbacks to this place, but it's still 5* because the cost is very reasonable compared to comparable resorts so having correct expectations is helpful to know if this place is for you. Sleep quality was great, I would appreciate if any reply would name the mattress brand. I had back surgery and it was firm and more comfortable than my own at home, I may seriously invest in it. There was a plumbing problem in our room that caused a smell from the drains, although leaving the bathroom fan on helped. The hotel grounds were also massive and supported a lot of wildlife. Some guests did interact with it which is something the hotel rightfully tells guests not to do. It's easy to forget how far back the resort is from the road with lots of undisturbed land. Pools in March were the ideal temperature and having the option of a quiet pool was nice. Pool chairs are hard to get and some guests left their towels on the chairs overnight to save spaces that went unused for most of the day. Planning activities that appeal to this many different people is difficult and I think they did a good job with it. All of the bartenders throughout the resort do their best to build rapport with guests and keep everyone happy. We did go to the Mayan dinner which is extra and we enjoyed the dinner and show. Since most of this vacation was relaxation, a bit of culture was appreciated and it was the best meal of the stay. The biggest drawback is the food, this seems to be where the costs are cut. The Japanese was the best restaurant of the bunch, the Tex mex was surprisingly bland, and the other restaurants food were very mediocre. Prepared food at the buffet was unappealing and very often mislabeled or unlabeled. Some of the dishes seemed very much leftover, as the roasted potato sides were inedible on several occasions. To be fair, my vegetarian friend felt she had lots of options and my dietary restrictions eliminate fried food which is an easy way to make cheap food taste good. The other reviews were accurate about the food and having adjusted my expectations helped to not be too dissatisfied. The crowd at the hotel skews a bit older, which was appreciated since it was Spring Break in the US and too many spring breakers would have disrupted the peace.
