Northwoods Inn & Suites Blackduck

Picked this property because of online information. Looked nice online. Said there was free breakfast, there wasn’t. No pool. Kind of grungy.

Quick easy check in friendly staff would recommend this place anytime

Landscaping does not look like the photo. Lots of weeds and tall grass that needs mowing. Found out at check-in that there would be no breakfast and no pool/hottub because of "Covid". The gal made it sound like it was just a recent Covid event that shut down the pools. That was obviously untrue. No water in the pools and the area was FULL of garbage more like a storage area. Gross! The kitchen area was also full of junk and garbage, so it was obviously not a recent Covid event. My guess is the pool and kitchen area haven't been open since March of '20 when Covid started. She offered a couple in front of me a discount when they complained about the pool being closed, but because I paid online ahead of time, I was offered no such discount. Another couple wanted a suite of some kind. She offered them one at one price, but told them not to touch the other bed in the room or they'd be charged a different price later. What the heck? Never heard of such a thing. Just such a sketchy place. Our room, however was very nice and everything worked and looked fine. Nice place to sleep if you can overlook the landscaping and the garbage/junk in the pool area. (yes the door was closed, but through the glass it's very visable) We were offered to use the bathroom while waiting, so we had to walk through the pool area. Pool empty but full of green crap. Clearly not emptied last week like she made it seem. We picked this hotel because of the pool/hottub.

Owner who runs the place was very friendly and accommodating, however, the facility is run down. Ice machine didn’t work and looked disgusting, some hall ceiling tiles were displaced. Pool looked like it had not been open for a long time.The room itself was fine except the freezer in the refrigerator had so much built up ice in it that we could not put anything in it. Overall, with a little TLC the place would be much better.

Pool was not operational. No breakfast available. Rooms and furniture were dated. However, it was a convenient location and had availability.

Good place to stay if you're on a budget. Made my ice fishing trip affordable and had a warm bed and shower at the end of the day.

Was only there to sleep so it served the purpose.
