Holiday Inn Express Birmingham Irondale East by IHG

Was just okay! Front desk staff more concerned about getting something for dinner than taking my info. Outside run down with over grown grass and old ac unit lying around. Found black hair in our towels. Breakfast just ok. Was ok for one night would not stay again.

Property was nice, plenty of parking, quiet area, and close to everything. Staff were friendly. I would stay here again.

The service was not responsive when I tried to call ahead of time about a question I had about the servility deposit before I check in. The moment I checked in, it was just complete silence. It seemed as if the person at the front desk was not focused on the main task to check me in as if they continued on having a side conversation with their coworker. I understand I was told I couldn’t check in until the recommended check in time, but by the time, I checked into my room, the room was cracked open, meaning the room must of been finished cleaning. The moment I walked in, the moment I sat my daughter down, not one, but both beds seemed to be as off they were both damped or covered in sweat. Onto my stay, since it was a two day stay, with three people, I would think I should be provided three towels. I called room service, and they said they would have someone bring towels upstairs. We never received them when I called twice throughout the day. When I spotted a worker on the floor that I thought knocked on my door, I asked if she was providing them towels. She said I would have to wait until housekeeping passes by. the housekeeping cart was near my room, but I never saw the housekeeper notified me with our towels . The only thing I liked throughout our stay was breakfast. The employees that run the breakfast area understood hospitality. I was able to enjoy speaking to the staff there, and was able to be offered a togo bag to pack some milk provided @ the breakfast area.

Clean

Breakfast burnt chipped tooth on your sausage everything cold. We stay at a lot of IHG this is definitely the worst breakfast and pool was full of green slime. NOT a Hilton hotel

The staff was nice the rooms and property was also clean. It’s in a very quiet area. The pool wasn’t assessable but overall great stay. Will go back if im in the area.

“Pump broke for pool” its so green it’s almost black, WiFi don’t work, tv half works, people that work here look at you with you dead eyes without saying hi, a/c unit has constant ringing

I've traveled all over the U.S., Europe and Australia and this was one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed at. The room was dirty everywhere including the bathroom, hallway and main bedroom. My room came with a sit down bench and the underside of the bench, which was flipped up, was full of black mold. There was also black chunks of dirt behind and on the side of the toilet. I took a shower and walked back to my bed, and the bottom of my feet was covered with dirt, glitter beads and bits of trash. I had to fo back to the bathroom, wet a towel and use it to wipe my feet and use another as a carpet in my room. The breakfast was terrible bc everything was burnt or overcooked. The front desk clerk said I asked for a handicapped room, which I didn't. She told the guy in front of me the same thing. I was then told to pay although I had already paid for the room. Thank goodness I only stayed one night. The staff are incompetent and the cleaning crew don't clean the room. I paid ove $150 for one night in early June 2025 and wouldn't wish my worse enemy to stay here. This hotel was utterly filthy and disgusting 🫣

This hotel was very dirty. The room had mold in the shower, dirt on the floor around the toilet, the bedroom floor was filled with dirt and debris and the breakfast was way overcooked or burnt. The staff that checked me in was also incompetent and unprofessional. The rrom was also very dark becaise they only had two tony lamps on either side of the bed and a tiny light over the desk. The room was also as cold as a meat locker, so much so the toilet papwr was damp . DO NOT STAY HERE!!!

Quiet and clean

Arrived at midnight after a long drive. First noticed the pool was green. After check-in, we started noticing the smell in the elevator and dirty floor. Once in the room, there was hair in the shower, and no soap or shampoo. Someone’s room card was left behind along with flower petals on the floor. Pillowcases were not fresh….Lastly—the a/c rattled all night long as if it was on its last leg. On a positive note, the staff was nice and the bed was comfy…or we were just really tired.
