Imperial Hotel Gold Coast

Apart from the bricks and mortar this place bore no resemblance to the former Versace Palace. Gone are the beautiful floral displays in the grand lobby - replaced with low budget, dull synthetic ones; luxury towels now on a par with what you would get at an average gym; in-room amenities very basic and low end; the beautiful poolside cascades/fountains derelict and void of water; staff friendly enough but junior, naive, and zero power/initiative to do anything; wine list of <30 choices. Food was appalling (avoid the Saturday evening buffet at all costs - dire; to be fair breakfast was OK but again nowhere near the former glories); had to queue for said breakfast; the cabana service was poor/non existent-we had to keep reminding them of what our package included and asking for it; attention to detail nowhere to be seen - we had to have four things fixed/replaced in our room - all of which should have been picked up by housekeeping; the adult only areas were overrun by screaming kids with no intervention from staff - irate guests taking it upon themselves to try and sort out. Final straw...our last day was a public holiday...so ALL food and beverages were an extra 15% - even in areas only accessible to hotel guests. This has gone from being a lovely over the top luxury stay for couples to an expensive B&B for families taking their kids to theme parks. Won't be back.

Stayed on the luxury escapes deal and had a fantastic time. Highlight was the piano player Cassidy Wilson in the bar on Friday and Saturday night-the hotel needs to advertise that he’s there better as he was exceptional. Four of us stayed in a lagoon view twin room and it’s a great space with incredible views. The pool area is lovely and I love the lavish decor, yes it wasn’t built yesterday so it’s not all brand new-but the high quality materials still look incredible and I loved seeing the Versace touches at every turn. Staff were all great, there was usually a line for breakfast but they worked hard to move it quickly. We all loved staying here, super convenient location and couldn’t fault it.

We have stayed at the Versace on many occasion's only to be very disappointed on this visit. The breakfast service was terrible with lengthy queues due to dirty tables not bring cleared early enough. No salt to be found anywhere except in the ocean outside. The breakfast staff preferred to argue with the customers rather than fix the issue. Coffee had to be ordered 12 hrs In advance in order to get it at all. The pool staff were not much better as they argued with other customers about no towels available. This is not what we had experienced before when it was a well known and highly respected hotel. Now known as the imperial hotel and new owners with a rebranding and even less money spent on maintenance makes for a very unsatisfactory stay and experience. This negative review along with many others probably explains why the owners have been looking to sell and do not care for their customers or building as much as making a substantial profit out of the original purchase. I hope the new owner can put the Versace back on the map of one of QLD jewel hotels on the gold coast and bring this classic luxury designed hotel back to its forma glory. We shall see. Until then we wait.

I wasn’t impressed with this hotel reason -service wasn’t good asked for extra towels after 3 calls it took over 35 minutes for them to arrive . Pool service poor can say there was no service . Housekeeping this is the reason I give housekeeping a -3 . Blood stain sheets yes that right. The bedsheets had blood stain marks over half of the fitted sheet. I advise them just got oh sorry . No I changed them straight away no apologies from duty manger . Nothing !!!! Not even a fruit basket or drink vouchers . Offering something would have been something . Absolutely disgusting.

Lovely place, friendly staff

Property was beautiful and the staff accomodating. Pool was amazing and well maintained, great for kids. Only disappointment was the poolside bar closed at 5pm, didn’t seem right to not be able to drink poolside after 5pm.
