Spark by Hilton Cedar City

The young woman checking in was lovely. So saying she was the one and only staff person on the premises.

Was willing to pay more for a good night sleep on a long road trip but this was terrible. First with another hotel guest waited over 30 min to check in. Building is old: the only employee was needed to repair things in the fully booked facility. Once we were finally checked in, the a/c heat unit roared and felt like trying to sleep on an airport tarmac. No option to open window as the interstate is right outside. The sink drain was “frozen” closed. (No point in overburdening the one employee)

Super small rooms bed was not very comfortable

This hotel is so run down and dirty. There is water leak damage everywhere. The floors in the hallways and elevator were sticky and covered in goo. It was gross. The pool was freezing and full blown air conditioning was being pumped into the room with the pool making it so cold you couldn’t take the kids swimming. We had stayed here many times over the years but it was so run down we won’t be back.

Toilet wasn’t working properly

Something that the staff can not predict… about 12:30AM the guests in the room above us got there and for about 45 minutes were shuffling around, and kept us awake until they settled down. This is a factor of the hotel construction… (I taught architecture & drafting in college for 25 years)

After checking in we went to our room unpacked then went to dinner. After returning we noticed that our room did not have blackout curtains and since we were on the ground floor people could see in. Went to the front desk and we were told that all rooms were like that. I went out and looked at some and sure enough I could see into other rooms. We had reservations for the following week and made other arrangements. I knew we could not get a refund but did not care. We go to Cedar City several times a year and will not stay there again.

Upon reading some of the reviews I was a little apprehensive, but don’t be! We found it extremely clean and well kept. We stay almost exclusively at Hamptons and they had the most amazing breakfast selection!! We were only here overnight but it was a great experience.

Over all it was ok. It is an older Hampton so the room was a bit run down. We were put in an ADA room and the shower was all over the bathroom. Breakfast was subpar.

Small, but clean room. I was surprised that there was no refrigerator or microwave in the room. This is the first Hampton I have stayed in which did not have either. During check out, I learned that these items were available upon request. I should have checked the amenities, but I made an assumption based on previous Hamptons.
