Montage Laguna Beach

I expected a luxury experience at the Montage Laguna Beach, but what I received was a frustrating, mismanaged, and disappointing stay from start to finish. We paid to upgrade to an ocean view room—only to be placed in a room obstructed by stairs. When we raised the issue, the manager showed us a new room and told us it would be ready “shortly.” That “shortly” turned into over two hours of waiting. Things only got worse from there. We called valet to arrange car service to our dinner reservation at Nobu and asked how early we needed to be downstairs. We were told 15 minutes in advance was fine. When we got to valet 20 minutes before our reservation, we were casually informed that Nobu was over 45 minutes away and the car service doesn't even go that far. Their brilliant suggestion? Uber—and miss our reservation. We escalated to the front desk supervisor, Selene, who clearly lacks the training or temperament for hospitality. She called in Tyron P., the Assistant Director of Rooms, who seemed far more concerned with deflecting blame than actually helping guests. He offered no solutions, no service recovery—just corporate stonewalling. We requested a call from his superior, Elizabeth N., the Director of Rooms. No one ever followed up. It’s a stunning property—but completely mismanaged. If you value your time, money, or sanity, look elsewhere. This is not the level of service you should expect from a resort that markets itself as luxury.

It’s hard to put into words just how happy I was with this experience given the cost. Their service was seamless from start to finish. They were all trained to interact with customers without overlapping duties. They always knew your name and what you liked. The grounds reminds me of Hawaii. The flawless attention to detail is everywhere. Just loved this place.

This place deserves a 6-star rating. I had an incredible visit from the first associate I met driving in to the last person who opened the door for my car. Each associate was incredibly well-trained in service and hospitality. The rooms, pools, food, bar, and all other amenities were terrific. Prepare for a fantastic venue, superb views, and the thrill of being pampered.

Unbelievable location. Picture perfect! Everything was outstanding! The food was amazing, and the sunsets spectacular. Id go every year if I could afford it.

Nico made are visit to the lobby lounge extra special! We had missed our flight in SMF for Cabo and found ourselves in search of our luggage at OCA (luggage is NOT to fly Int w/o a person legally- though ours did😡)- it is now later in the same day, and because of Nico’s incredible graciousness, and phenomenal service , our blood pressure has mellowed and our appreciation for the most beautiful surroundings here at Montage is fully in place. Many thanks Nico for being so excellent at your job!!!

Stayed at the Montage for a mix of business and vacation. The resort is absolutely stunning, service was excellent. I had the opportunity to visit the spa as well and wanted to give Kudos the massage therapist Rod. I have a lot of massage for chronic back issues which were flared up some from travel. Rod was very skilled in his technique, applying just the right amount of pressure, and helped me feel so much better for the remainder of my trip!
