Montage Laguna Beach

Aaron was everything! He somehow managed to capture every moment perfectly photos, vibes, all of it. He kept the champagne flowing, handed out drinks like a pro, and treated the birthday girl like royalty. Honestly, he made the whole day feel effortless and special. 10/10 we’re officially obsessed with him 🥂✨

We had the absolute best experience at the Montage lobby lounge. We had family visiting from out of state and we wanted them to experience the casual elegance of Laguna Beach. Our server, Donnie, was amazing—so kind, attentive, and genuinely caring. From the moment we sat down, he made us feel welcome, and went out of his way to make sure everything was perfect. His menu suggestions for small plates, desserts (dark chocolate molten cake) and cappuccinos were perfect and everything was delicious. It’s obvious that he truly loves what he does, and takes pride in making guests feel special. We left smiling and talking about how we can’t wait to come back. If you go to the lobby lounge at the Montage Resort, definitely ask for Donnie-—he is the best!

Stayed with my wife....just a lack of energy and ambiance at pool and in bar area. The Loft also felt like a cafeteria experience. We don't plan to stay there again.

This is my 3rd trip to the Montage in the past 12 months. As far as hotels goes, it's one of the best. OC has the most gorgeous beaches in California, bar none, and this is the premiere hotel in the area (Ritz, Pelican Hill, etc. all great - nothing like Montage). It also has an exquisite spa and the massages are the best I've ever had. THAT SAID... There are two main reasons I knocked off a star. One - it is far too crowded. They are overbooked and understaffed, and service has slipped. Also - Lots of people who are not hotel guests are on site (there's a public walking path at the hotel). Additionally, despite the spa being 5 stars, they book it to the brim, and non-hotel guests arrive at 8am to claim chairs at the spa pool, clogging up the facilities and the loungers. This has been an issue every single time we've come. I think they need to raise their rates or prioritize their hotel guests at the spa, because it is simply overrun with locals. Second, the food. The breakfast and the pool food are fine, but there is no good fine dining on site. They JUST reopened The Studio, which I haven't tried, but their signature restaurant while it's been closed - The Loft - is not only not good, it's actually pretty bad. For dinner, at the prices they have - it is simply unacceptable. Overall, I will most certainly come back, but only in the shoulder/off season and will only dine on site if the food improves. My suggestion would be to book an ocean room, book a massage, but go on a week day and/or in the afternoon once the locals clear out. Then eat at the pool and/or book dinner in Laguna Beach instead of at the hotel. Finally, I will say - Dan and David, the Saturday night piano players, are both fantastic and so kind. And Asher at the pool - he is SO great. 5 Stars for those three.

Kayvan, Aaron, & Douglas in the lobby lounge all individually contributed to a phenomenal experience for myself and my business partners. Kayvan went the extra mile to take care of us, providing some of the best service I’ve ever seen. Aaron always took the time to remember us and make us feel at home, and Douglas was almost telepathic with helping myself and my business partners with everything we needed. They are the reason myself and my team will be staying at the montage for our retreats instead of pelican hill from now on.

⭐ Disappointed After 15 Years of Loyalty We’ve stayed at Montage Laguna Beach for over 15 years and have always had incredible experiences — until this visit. For fall break, our family rented two suites, expecting the same peaceful, luxurious environment we’ve always loved. Unfortunately, the resort hosted a large wedding on Friday night directly next to our rooms. The DJ was blasting music so loudly that our kids couldn’t sleep. We first called the front desk at 8 p.m. to see if anything could be done, but the response was indifferent at best. We called again at 9, and by that point, the noise was still unbearable. From 9:00 to 10:15, no one answered the phone at all. The party continued until 11 p.m. I understand weddings are joyful celebrations, and the guests were clearly having a great time — but there’s no reason paying hotel guests should have to sacrifice rest and comfort because of poor planning and sound management. For a property that prides itself on world-class service and attention to detail, this was deeply disappointing. I hope Montage reconsiders how it handles private events near guest rooms, because this experience did not reflect the excellence we’ve come to expect after 15 years of loyalty.

We have been attending a conference at the Montage every October for the past 8 years, It is always spectaculre, including the facilites, views and level of service. This year we expereinced an even higher level service than in previous years. Everyone we met on the staff, from check-in, to say-to-day to checkout, was extraordinarily proactive and accommodating and warm, The person who had checked us in remembered our names at checkout before we gave our room number, This is what a luxury hotel experience should be!

What a truly fun experience on the beautiful Aperitivo Boat with Captain Mark. He was extremely friendly, kind, entertaining and fun to be with 6 adults ,4 girl teenagers 16: 15: 12 and a 17 month old girl. He was very accommodating to our desires and had interesting stories to share. We loved the sites on the Newport Harbor Cruise. We would highly recommend having this experience and would definitely do it again with Captain Mark.
