Beach Retreat & Lodge at Tahoe

It was good.

The pictures of the property and rooms make this place look much nicer than it actually is. The rooms are very tiny and parking was awful! The staff at the desk were very nice and helpful. Sadly the bartender at the tiki bar was awful and not friendly at all. The on sight restaurant was way understaffed some people were waiting for 1 to 2 hours for food. We were very disappointed and it was our anniversary, we ended up walking out. On a positive note the view from our room was nice. And it was peaceful at night. They knew it was our anniversary and i was hoping for a little something special, free cocktail, or appetizer... something. All in all it wasnt horrible and we got a lot of relaxation time. The place just didnt repsent as well in person.

There's a fair amount of wear and tear on the property. Shower leaked a LOT of water on the floor. The property had that old smell which is off putting.

The beach is insane and it’s about 100 feet from your room even if you aren’t in a beachfront room. Crystal clear water, plenty of sand. It’s big, has loads of trees and sunshine. Lots of dogs (this hotel is dog friendly so tons of dogs around yay!) The best part is that tons of locals come there so it’s a good mix of people. The beach bar is top tier. Expensive but every drink was outstanding and you can’t beat the convenience.

Room was dark and dated. We liked the sliding door, but it just felt really bla. Pool and hot tub overrun with kids splashing.

I never leave reviews but this has been the most disappointing visit to Tahoe for my mother and I. It is so pricy for being outdated— I had even paid more to get lake view from our room as shown in the photos. Our room got some view but a lot of it was obstructed by an event below and drunk tourists at the bar. It was not worth it. Compared to other hotels, ANYONE can enter this property, there are no wristbands to know who is a visitor or not. I saw lots of drunk, loud and obnoxious people that make me question if they even paid to be there. Not family friendly. The TV is outdated and carpet reeks of musk. Don’t count on Netflix and wear sandals in the property to avoid fungal infections. The beach was very limited, there was a weddi by taking place on the left so we couldn’t walk far and behind us was a sad memorial service of some kind telling us to be quiet for respect….on the the right were drunk loud people. The vibe was so confusing and I had no idea how I should feel. B ut what really got me upset is that when I tried grabbing a chair, a man approached me and told me that it was 25$ to get one!!! I paid over 600$ to stay a night!! I have stayed in cheaper hotels in Tahoe nearby who make it a priority to keep its hosts relaxed and comfortable. This is just pure greed and with this I left more angry than relaxed. Never again! On ther other hand the housemaids and front desk was nice. Don’t take it on them, take it on the greedy management.

Loved the beach access! Loved Tiki Bar and pier restaurant. Did not like food at Sidelines. The bed was very uncomfortable, too hard. Loved pet friendly! Pier restaurant has great food and service but the restaurant/pier needs beautification. Peeling paint/mismatched furniture, scary stairs to restaurant (broken concrete). Hopefully new owners have plans to improve some things.

Nice beach view. Enjoyed our stay over the Labor Day weekend.
