Excellent value; clean, comfortable, friendly and helpful staff

I made a reservation and paid in advance. I arrived at the Thunderbird at 10:20 and was told I did not have a room due to overbooking. Again, room was already paid for!! I was traveling with my 2 elderly parents. I got upset but was told this motel also owned the neighbor motel so I could get a room there. The room was in need of updates. Toilet was clogged which resulted in a trip to office to be given a plunger to fix myself. Big spider in tub. Shower curtain rod was not affixed to the wall and was not secured. As I had no other option we stayed but got out first thing in the morning. The whole experience was stressful! I would not stay again and would not recommend!

Great last-minute choice. The folks behind the counter were nice and were helpful. The rooms decor is dated, but I don't care about that - it was kept very clean and had a nice roomy fridge. Towels and bedding were clean and nice. A/C was very cold. Water was hot and worked well. That's what I want in a room. We did not use the pool. We noticed it had water in it but no one was using it when we arrived, so I can't comment on the condition of that.

This place is an absolute total disgusting establishment. We had reservations to stay at this hotel August 2nd. Upon arrival we saw several people sitting in there white chairs near there door smoking cigarettes. (Not a good start) When we entered the room the smell of mold and cigarettes were absolutely horrible. We saw hair on the toilet seat, the sink also had hair in it and not cleaned, the floor was filthy. My son’s socks were pitch black after a few mins of being in the hotel. To top things off after driving 6 hrs to get here my kids were looking forward to jumping in the pool (pool was closed under maintenance) After an extremely disappointing start to our trip we asked for a refund of the stay. According to the manager I think her name was sally or Asel? Not sure if her name she told us she’s unable to refund us for our stay. Are you serious? After all this crap you “can’t” refund us? She told us to head to the Quality Inn and that place was the same disgusting crack smelling hotel. I asked the manager there if we can just take a peek at the room and that room too was a total disgusting joke I would never allow my children and wife in. After speaking with the manager at Thunderbird I ended up calling back and letting her know we won’t be staying there and I would contact the chamber of commerce Monday (booked online). Horrible service Horrible hospitality Horrible cleanliness My wife and I don’t expect to stay at the Hilton ..lol but we do expect the hotel to be clean, upkept and sanitary and the two hotels fell extremely short. We stayed at Mackinaw Bay earlier that week and it was fantastic. Great service and very clean. Suggestion: STAY AWAY FROM THUNDERBIRD. They also have 2 more affiliated hotels and they two are horrible. If you have a family- don’t even consider this place.

My husband and I needed a place to stay for just a few hours during our trip to get home. We checked in pretty late and when our keys didnt work, we were given new keys and a new room. The new room wasn't even at the Thunderbird it was on a different lot all together on the opposite side next to the budget inn. The bathroom window was broken and the room itself just stunk of mildew and mold. I can deal with outdated decor but the smell was just so gross we just decided to leave. It seems like its the same owner for the row of motels in this area. The front desk agent was sweet Its not her fault that the owners want to put no money into fixing the place up. 169$+ a night is not worth it at all.

Very friendly staff. Service was good. Room was clean.
