Hotel Scala Frankfurt City

It was ok. The door in the shower was broken, and the bathroom was incredibly dated. It is also located across from a bar/nightclub which makes sleeping at a weekend almost impossible.

Arrived on 10th March from Ireland. Room was ready. Man at reception very kind and chatty. Room perfect overlooking road. two single beds, wardrobe, shower, sink, toilet.. fridge, kettle tea, coffee. bottled water, TV. Heater under window, omg room was roasting... you could turn the valve to turn it off. also electric shutters outside,, switch at window. There was a little spill of people on street at night time,, but nothing major. We didnt have breakfast. We went to Aldi and got milk and biscuits for room. and we bought our own tea bags... you cannot for love nor money get irish tea bags in Frankfurt... Hotel is very centre to shops...perfect location... definitely recommend...

Excellent location and very friendly staff

Quiet, no-frills accomodation in a great location. Lobby and breakfast area are fairly modern, but my room and the coridors could use a real update. It seems like a partial renovation was completed at some point with an eye on the budget more than anything. Access to transit was a huge plus, and the area has a ton of great shopping and sightseeing. Overall, would stay here again myself, but couldn't recommend to overly discerning friends.

The staff was friendly efficient and very accommodating . Communicating with staff was easy as they were very comfortable in English German and at least one other language I overheard Staff also made good suggestions for food and things to do

The hotel is at the edge of the tourist and shopping areas. I felt safe during the day, but it felt a bit seedier in the evening. It was a hot summer and there is no AC. Couldn’t leave the window open at night due to street noise and safety, so the room was uncomfortably warm. They did provide a desk fan. There was no phone in the room so whenever there was a problem I had to go in person to the front desk. The young guy at the front desk most of the time was extremely rude. There was an older woman that worked there and she was quite helpful. That said, I would choose another hotel next time.

Convenient to Zeil shopping area, restuarants, bars, U line that takes you directly to airport in 20 minutes. Room was very small and lift goes to 8 floor, 9th floor you must climb a set of stairs. Check in was fast and easy and staff was very helpful

We arrived on August 19 for 2 nights, melting in heat in the 30’s (high 80’s in Fahrenheit). I prepared a diagram of the air conditioning controls, which I failed miserably to master, and asked the young woman at the front desk how to use them. She said, oh, the air conditioning is not working. I couldn’t believe that this was the first I was hearing that a key element of what was promised with the room was not available, and we had had no warning. We were told that there were no rooms with air conditioning, but don’t worry, repairs are scheduled for some time later next week. We were promised a fan for the room, and when we returned after dinner, there was a fan, but it sounded like the engine of a 747. We complained at the front desk and were provided with a very good fan. We had to leave the window open to get any air, the room felt very smothery. Plus, the partying from the bars in the courtyard below went on until the middle of the night. The next day I complained again at the front desk, and this agent let it slip that there were some rooms with air conditioning. We asked to be moved to one, and he said we would have to pack up our bags, and that they would be moved to an air-conditioned room when one became available during the day. When we returned, our luggage was no longer in a secure space, but out in the main traffic area, but there was an air-conditioned room available for us. The breakfast was as usual very good. We have stayed here over the years more than a dozen times. It’s time to try other hotels instead.
