Sketchley Grange Hotel & Spa

Very tasty meal and lovely spa break away. Amy our server was fantastic and couldn’t do enough for us. They even made sure the steak was cooked properly for me because I am pregnant! Thanks so much for a great weekend and meal out.

I checked in today 20th June 2025 at 6pm to check out at 6:10pm due to the cleanliness of room 156. My initial thoughts when I walked into the room was a musky smell. I first noticed chipped paint and plaster missing off the wall around the light switches, not the impression or the condition you expect for a room titled Executive Junior Suite priced at £189.00. Whilst checking the room further I noticed the following and all identified in the photographs taken - Stains on the pillows Dark hairs on the bedding Damaged and scratched furniture Dark hairs in the bath and other stains TV remote control filthy dirty Wall against the toilet stained I was not prepared to sleep in a room with such low hygiene standards. When checking out I was served by the same employee who checked me 10 minutes earlier. I was asked as the first sentence would I like a VAT receipt to which I replied no thank you. To then be asked are there issues? It was pointless discussing as I’m certain these standards considered normal. In my opinion I would not stay here or recommend. Had I checked further I am sure more hygiene issues would have been discovered. £189.00 wasted!

Lovely stay! Had a reservation at the restaurant on the Saturday. Amy was great and attended to all of our needs, service was fast and she was lovely!

Location, Room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good.

Staff could have been friendlier, especially bar staff. We booked to have evening meal the first night. We arrived on time but the door was still locked and the staff were initially surprised to see us. The manager told us straight away there was a new menu and the staff were getting used to it. We ordered our starters and mains, which the former arrived promptly and that was good. Then the mains arrived and my wife's main was the wrong one, so to stop mine from going cold I had to start. Eventually the correct main arrived and we proceeded to eat. My fish and chips were not great to the point it was very disappointing. My wife's curry was OK but again disappointing. Then when it came to the dessert menu. The pricing was the same for everything £15.50??, regardless if it was ice cream on its own or any of the others. On questioning this we were initially told it was a mistake and then told it was correct. Needless to say we left without having dessert and the staff including the manager ignored us and when paying at the bar the snooty woman behind the bar, proceed to snatch the bill scan it and gave it to a colleague to process it whilst making a grunting noise. Her name was Millie. Not great customer service. Shame because it could have been so much nicer!

Had excellent meal in restaurant- wide choice on menu , professional, friendly service from Poppi in particular

Location was in a lovely neighbourhood that is close to a lot of other shops, the atmosphere was great, the rooms were outdated, the heater in the bathroom was not working so our clothes were dripping wet after we used the pool until we went home, it never turned on, the water pressure was low, had to take extra time in the shower to finish rinsing, even the toilet is difficult to flush, had to do it at least twice for every use for it to be properly flushed and clean. The food was amazing, had a really nice dinner and the staffs were great especially Amy who assisted us, she was very prompt and kind, even helped us get a nice picture together. The spa was amazing, helped relieve some stress from our muscles too! All in all it’s a great weekend staycation, thank you very much!

Very expensive for such as room 83, which is in need of dire update and items to be repaired. Example is the faulty electrical socket,,which on attempt to use cused my phone charger Earth pin to break, so is now now useless. Bathroom door, wood pillar has rotted and diirty with long term mould. Shower mastic is a dire bodge and rom smelt of prior animal being in room and hairs.
