SHG Hotel Villa Carlotta

We have stayed at this hotel earlier in the year, it is in a lovely location, the gardens are wonderful, just the thing for chilling out and relaxing. The rooms are tired but very clean, and the breakfast is enjoyable and plenty of it, I would say if I am honest a car is very handy, as there are not many restaurant near by, The staff are very helpful and caring, would we go again Yes we would

Reading some of the reviews I was not expecting much out of this hotel. I was pleasantly surprised. We stayed in a superior room with a balcony and lake view. The room was clean, tidy, could do with a little bit of work in modernization, but really was nice. Breakfast was a traditional European style buffet. Ate once in the hotels restaurant and that was good. Hotel staff were nice and friendly.

An ok hotel, could do with updating, but clean and adequate for our needs. The price was excellent and location very good. A very enjoyable 5 days with my husband , just what we needed.

Hotel in very good position. Overlooking lake. Road can be noisy at times, but with windows closed and a/c on not a problem. Reception staff were wonderful, nothing was too much trouble. Unfortunately same could not be said for bar staff. Bathrooms in serious need of update, but our room had been repainted with new flooring, so was clean. Rooms with balconies to be recommended. We had room 270. Pool and grounds very good.

Beds and pillows super hard and uncomfortable. Parking garage was a nightmare. Good breakfast. Good overall value.

Arrived at the hotel to a family room, only nice part was the view. Old hotel, terrible mobile air conditioning unit which did not cool the room down. Very old bathroom, hand held shower over the bath with no shower curtain. As you can imagine with a 10 and 8 year water everywhere. Patio door lock broken, safe did not work. Complained to reception but nothing done. But then again you get what you pay for.

This hotel has a lot of potential but needs complete refurbishment. The rooms and corridors are very tired and dated. We were unhappy with our room but were shown two others only to discover that ours was actually one of the nicest in the hotel! So that shows the standard of them and believe me we are not fussy travellers. We were disappointed to find that the hotel pool does not open until 1st June despite temperatures of 28c during our May stay. The food in the restaurant was good and staff friendly and helpful but it lacked ambience. Very starkly decorated and bright lighting which spoilt the overall effect.

- After check in towels in room were dirty and shower did not work. - Wasp hive on the balcony. - they changed towels and provides an upgraded room after numerous complaints ( Service there is very friendly) Balcony in new room was dirty covered in webs and dead insects. There were pills lying on the floor from previous users. No Matressprotection just covered with a cloth. It was my birthday and they provided a bottle of Prosecco. All in all, a little to dirty and not a 4 star hotel in my eyes but Service get 2 thumbs up and food was ok in restaurant. Breakfast a little dull

The hotel was recently under new management when we stayed (March 2017). The hotel condition needed some improving, but it was clear the new owners were working on that already. Once work is completed, we want to go back! Great location, right on the lake, with a few great views. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend, especially when renovations are completed by May 2017.
