Occidental Papagayo - Adults Only - All inclusive

What a horrible experience,,,first night some guy got drunk at 3 am fought with his wife in hallway kicked out door security took 30 minutes and they still couldn't calm him down , he said he was going to be at everyone up, third day we set up a kayak tour from the hotel and the tour guide was late rude ,,he treated us as he was doing us a favor,,and we decided to skip,,the next day the tour guide is also the DJ at the pool and he treated all of us like if we owed him money, rude comments and calling us queria laughing making jokes,,,I will never ever recommend that place

It was not very welcoming. We didn’t like the fact that we couldn’t have access to the hotel amenities until 11 am, we landed at 6:30am ,, although we understand that our room wouldn’t be ready until 3 pm, not having access to go inside the hotel was very disappointing., They were charging additional fees to go in early.

We had an amazing stay at Occidental Papagayo! The resort grounds were beautifully maintained, and we really loved how everything was laid out. Although there’s a shuttle available, we only used it for check-in and check-out since everything felt conveniently close. Our premium bay room was perfect—the view was absolutely breathtaking. The entertainment in the evenings was just right for us, and we especially enjoyed the guitar and saxophone player. The premium bar offered incredible views and excellent service; a special thanks to Kattya and Mila for making our visits there extra enjoyable. Dining was a highlight as well. The buffet always had a nice variety—omelets at breakfast were a favorite, and the prime rib at lunch along with Costa Rican night were must-tries. We also dined at all three à la carte restaurants, each offering something unique and delicious. On our last day, we treated ourselves to the spa with a couples massage and facial. It was the perfect way to unwind after all of our excursions and made it a little easier to slide back into reality. We celebrated a birthday trip here and couldn’t have chosen a better place. It was truly memorable, and we’re already looking forward to returning next year!

They decided to do works at the pool with a pneumatic drill at 5.30am in the morning. They thought this was acceptable. The food and drinks were sub par but you get what you pay for - it was about 180 usd a night.

Well our time is over in Costa Rica and at the Occidental Papagayo. Time for my review We actually stayed in 2 rooms when we were there the standard room over looking well basically nothing lol on the 2nd floor. The room is very nice The bed is really comfortable And you gets Iots of pillows LMAO the bathroom is spacious enough. So before we arrived I emailed the resort and told them my wife has issues climbing stairs and its her 60th birthday so if we could get something on main level and our daughter is also coming with her own separate room could we get something close together. I never heard back. When we checked in a was taken our rooms We went to our daughter's 2202 and wow wow wow Then to our room as I said before it was nice but the other

The property was located very near the beach. The plants, trees, and grounds were BEAUTIFUL. The resort needs updating; it is dated. The beds, all couches and cushioned seats, had dips, sunken spots, and the upholstery in several areas, including the premium lounge, was stained or dingy. The air conditioning was not working in the main dining/buffet. There were fans on floor, but the fans did very little to cool the area. The air conditioner in my room worked sporadically; I called multiple times for repair. The water in building one was off for over 5 hours one day. My room smelled like sulfur/sewage and the smell seemed to worsen each day. The food was horrible and lacked variety. There were beans and rice daily. The meats-- pork, chicken, and fish--were extremely poor quality and never looked appetizing or edible. The vegetables--cauliflower, carrots, broccoli-- were served everyday; they were undercooked and never seasoned. The desserts were inedible. Outside of the restaurants, drinks were served in thin paper cups that got flimsy immediately. The music played throughout the resort lacked diversity and variety. They started playing it early in the mornings, loud enough to be heard in the guestrooms. The club/disco was disappointing. There was karaoke every night. Nearly ALL of the selections were salsa. The pool table was in a corner by the entrance, there was too much traffic to play it comfortably. To top it off, staff was not hospitable at all.
