The Burn How Garden House Hotel

Once again had a lovely stay here. From the greet to the goodbye. Everything was superb. The place itself is beautiful with stunning gardens. The rooms are beautiful and clean. The staff are brilliant and very accommodating. The breakfast is extremely tasty with the use of local fresh produce. A truly hidden gem. Can’t wait to return soon. A********

This is a traditional Lakeland hotel. If you want a fancy modern place this is not for you. The grounds were beautiful, the hotel reception were welcoming, helpful and polite. All the staff we encountered were a pleasure to deal with. There is definitely room for a bit of modernization (not too much or it will lose it's charm) but if you want a traditional place to stay with an excellent breakfast and attentive staff....go no further than here. A very short walk to the town centre, it's ideally placed. Would I stay there again? Absolutely yes.

Very lovely 3 days in the Burn How. We stayed in the main house in a good sized room. Clean and very comfortable and as the accommodation is within a large garden it was very quiet. Location is so close to the lake, pubs, shops and restaurants without the noise and bustle of it. Good parking too. Breakfast was excellent with very wide variety of choice and beautiful views of the gardens. Even in March. Staff were personable and helpful. Will be back here the next time we come down to the Lakes.

I first wrote a review in august 2022 after we had stayed here a couple of times and I gave the hotel 5 stars , We have now been to the burn how numerous times and we have seen the decline in the standard of the rooms etc, I was slightly dubious about writing this review as from the replies given to some reviews I can see that constructive criticism is not taken well, when we arrived we were given the key to garden room 9 and I was not best pleased with the room, out of every room I have have stayed in at this hotel this was the worst, room was cold, curtains had mould on and some of the windows did not lock properly and cleaning standards much lower than they ever were, at breakfast the next morning I reported the room being very cold and this issue was resolved and speaking to other guests they had the same issue, during our previous stays rooms were cleaned daily and tea/coffee tray was replenished but this no longer happens and we had to go and ask for teabags and milk, we also needed to ask for batteries for the tv remote control as this was not working, at breakfast next morning we did not receive our pot of tea as ‘they had forgot about us’ my husband ordered s full breakfast with no hash brown he asked for scrambled egg , beans and black pudding, he was given hash brown, no black pudding and no beans, by this time we had enough and he didn’t even bother to complain as we just wanted to go home, as I say we have stayed here many times but we will not return as if you are paying nearly £200 per night you do not expect this level of service.

Staff were very helpful and friendly. Room was lovely and clean. Lots of options for breakfast and delicious. Also nice lounge area and bar. Very conveniently situated and in lovely grounds.

Enjoyed our stay in a garden room. A few aspects of the furniture looked quite tired. Spacious room with indoor and outdoor sitting area although too cold to sit out.

As a couple we hav stayed at The Burn How quiet a few times.its so convienient 5min walk and your in BOWNESS. So clean property is the owners staff excellent. Breakfast excellent. 5star all the way...well recommend .excellent.

Excellent position in Bowness, an easy walk to all amenities. Courteous helpful staff, a great breakfast each morning.
