Room very tired Breakfast okay dinner good

Staff needed to be trained in the bar and conservatory, wait long time for drinks, tables never cleaned after vacating.

Everything was perfect ! But the staff were wonderful at the hotel nothing was too much trouble and they were extremely polite and attentive

Room was spotlessly clean with great linen and towels. All staff we encountered were friendly and attentive, fantastic customer service all round. Breakfast was great and dinner was exquisite, thoroughly enjoyed it. Location is picturesque and fab for walking.

Considering we stayed in a superior room, the bathroom was not quite up to scratch in our opinion. Too small and the water pressure of the over-bath shower was appalling. Luckily I have short hair and hubbie doesn’t have any, rinsing long thick hair would been a nightmare. Also the car park had not been gritted and we nearly slipped over several times when walking to the car.

The restaurant was nice for a fancy dinner, the food was very good although quite pricy but tasty. The estate is nice if you have a dog as there's plenty of space to run around. The indoor pool was great.

The staff at the reception was not friendly at checkin, that's the first impression of the hotel and it was not nice. When you went to check in at 3pm, they said the rooms are not available still cleaning them and didn't even say when it will be ready, we got it 30 min late. They acted as if this was a normal occurrence for the hotel. The rooms are very worn down, clean but worn down, the bathroom is not nice to look at, moldy sealant all around, the shower was getting cold randomly on and off. The water bottle in the room costs £5 on your tab if you open it! Paying £250 a night and I don't even get free water! The room itself was big but not well equiped, the kettle does not work properly, there's no bedside lights and no outlet! How are you supposed to charge your phone? That's how old the rooms are! Definitely not a 4 star hotel experience The same tables where I was served dinner ALC were also for serving continental breakfast which was a bit disappointing compared to the dinner food quality, very basic food choices using the cheapest ingredients, the jam was basically the jelly kind full of sugar, the "cheese board" was a few slices of goat cheese!, no vegan option for english breakfast, no herbal tea or earl gray tea option, only black tea and black coffee. Not something to get excited about to be honest. I am very disappointed given that I payed £250 for 1 night, that would have gotten me a nice hotel with a private hot tub in lake distric area!

Good selection on the breakfast buffet, both hot and cold. Room was nicely furnished and bed was comfortable. Allowed to use the pool as part of room rate which is a nice touch. Bath towels were nice and large, although robes were not! Plenty of wardrobe/drawer space.

Toilet seat was wobbly as was the sink tap. Hotel is dog friendly and we heard a dog barking during the night. The pool was very crowded - full of kids. Would have been nice to be provided with pool slippers as had to walk through hotel barefooted. No bedside light on one side of bed.
