Hotel Illa D'Or

We last stayed at the Illa D’or 7 years ago, it was lovely then and still is! Wonderful location, rooms are comfortable, food and hospitality excellent. We particularly like the quality of this hotel and the attention to detail without it being overly pretentious, it’s just a great place to stay. Situated right next to the sea with wonderful views, the location is ideal being close to the resort, but in a quiet area. We had a 3.5 hour cruise on the hotel’s boat, the Isabel María around the coast to a small cove where you could swim and a light lunch was served with a couple of glasses of wine. You should give this a try as it’s a very relaxing time at sea and the skipper Frank was such a good host. All of the staff are very friendly and obliging, but a particular mention for Sinthia in the restaurant as she is so attentive and has a lovely smile! We mustn’t leave it so long to return next time and we can thoroughly recommend staying here – relax and enjoy!

Beautiful hotel and first class service From the moment we checked in this first class hotel doesn’t disappoint The staff especially Monica who was outstanding & so helpful .. my husband pointed out a few very minor things that could be improved on in our room such as herbal teas bags on the tea. tray & a full length mirror and before we knew it - it was done - no problem no fuss just excellent customer service with a smile .. dinner service was from à la carte menu always fresh and plentiful together with a help yourself buffet of salads & dessert/ cheese A wonderful outside restaurant terrace overlooking the sea .. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting a beautiful stress free relaxing time away with excellent food , & fantastic service you can walk into town centre along the famous pine walk

The Hotel is set right on the seafront, in a very quiet area, there is a beautiful promenade to stroll, beware it can be a bit uneven in places. The view is lovely and an evening drink on the terrace is a must. The Hotel is immaculate, the staff are very professional but also warm and welcoming. Our room was lovely, soft colours, all amenities and a balcony with partial sea view. The food and drink in the hotel were excellent and service was good. The town was a ten minute stroll from the Hotel, plenty of bars and restaurants, family friendly with a low key vibe, we felt safe to walk in the town and promenade at any time of the day. We will almost certainly visit again

Wonderful stay! My grandfather passed away while we were on our trip and the hotel was so sweet by sending flowers and goodies to our room. Highly recommend!

4th time back, last time 2017. The Hotel has certainly had a makeover. Restaurant looks fantastic and the food is first class in all respects. The waiters/waitresses are friendly and super efficient ( apart from a young lad who was hopeless), let's hope he learns fast as he did not seem to want to interact with the hotel guests at all and seemed at times completely lost. Our room was splendid with sea views and the chambermaids were excellent. Checking in was first class as well as checking out. The reception team were on hand 24/7 and were second to none. The bar staff were attentive and so knowledgeable. This is by far our favourite hotel.

This is a tricky review to write. I found the hotel fine - great staff, clean, decent food , great location etc . The reason I couldn't return isn't the hotel and I apologise to the staff and owners as it isn't you who is the problem. The problem is the guests. The guests seemed mostly English middle class. Over 4 days I saw many behave very badly to staff over very mundane issues and endless loud whinging. I saw people pile breakfast plates with far more food than was necessary. I saw shocking arrogance while queuing at buffets and not a single example of people using common Spanish words or phrases to express simple gratitude. All from those I suspect are quick to criticise others. I wish the hotel good luck but my advice would be to expand the client base to include those from other countries. This might improve the general level of behaviour.

I booked the hotel from a recommendations and it really didn’t disappoint. The rooms were lovely and the whole venue was in a wonderful location - far enough away from the busy port but close enough for an evening stroll. The staff (majority) are very friendly and helpful, although a few of the staff need to cheer up a bit as they often looked miserable! I think some of the staff must also be new as they were a bit disorganised particularly at dinner time. Food was good with a nice vegan menu, but it would have been nice to have more salad choices . The highlight for us was certainly the boat trip, which was just amazing. Well worth the cost! Many of the residents come year after year and I can see why.

We stayed there partly because we wanted to use the steam sauna and spa was advertised. However they did not maintain the sauna and mastered not available.

We had a very enjoyable stay at Hotel Illa D Or, the building is immaculate and the staff excellent with every query or request dealt with instantly, professionally and friendly. We stayed for 14 nights half board and found the food to be very good, breakfast was particularly good, the attention to the presentation is faultless and the staff are constantly monitoring the levels. The Terressa restaurant was superb as was the location on the sea front. One reason for choosing the hotel was the cycling facilities which they provide , a large garage,cycle pumps , tools and maintenance stands , in short everything you require down to the water dispenser to fill your bidons. Our room was large and decorated to a high standard, the bed was very comfortable with the only minor complaint being the coffee and teabags provided were poor and not of the standard of the hotel, instant Nescafé and breakfast tea bags. The spa was enjoyable and nicely finished, again spotlessly clean. It is highly likely the we will return.
