This place was horrible

The atmosphere

This was our fourth visit to this hotel, and it's definitely our last. Our room was rusty, musty, and cold....we had no heat, with temps dipping into the low 50's (maybe lower). We had NO coffee maker---we went out and purchased one. Not many dishes....we bought (and left) bowls and a tray to use the oven. Oh yeah, the oven door handle was coming off. It definitely had a pot smell on the patio. I had to vacuum the room myself (we NEVER got any housekeeping for a two week stay, other than getting two rolls of toilet paper and a box of Kleenex). While vacuuming, I found TWO bird feathers and used Q-tips under the couch, along with kids beach toys. We averted an electrical fire. Beach access was not completed AND the indoor pool heater didn't work....plus there were tiles missing out of the roof so the wind coming in made it almost dangerous to try and swim and exit the water w/out freezing. The laundry was down for maintenance.....I didn't appreciate having to go across the street just to do laundry. I booked this room back in September. If they didn't have any rooms that were "suitable", they should have let me know. We stayed 13 days because we didn't want to drive on a holiday, but we got out as soon as the holidays were over. I guess you get what you pay for---I thought that my rate may have been on the low side because we had an extended stay. I definitely would have paid more to have a room that was clean, not covered in rust, and that had heat. The only other room option seemed to be a room with a huge metal closet blocking the hallway. At a quick glance, it didn't seem very clean, either. Just a bad experience....and one that we won't repeat.

We’ve stayed at the location 3 times over the last 7 years or so. It has progressively gotten worse. This last visit will be our last at this facility. The pot smell in our room was ridiculous. The ventilation system carriers it throughout the location. If that doesn’t bother you then maybe you’ll enjoy your stay. Even walking the beach you can smell the pot. It’s very annoying for us. Also the place needs a bunch of updating. Staff is pleasant but that’s the only positive I have.

Lots of deferred maintenance issues, no housekeeping after requesting two different days. The people in room next door were massive amounts of weed and it was coming into my room with my kids. Management would not do anything. Didn’t appreciate the contact high. We moved hotels.

I stayed at this hotel 10 years ago, back then it was fantastic. Nowadays not so much. Looks like maintenance and repairs on not on the top of the list. The photos used for the room we booked are definitely from about 10 years ago.

Beginning I was charged 187. Got to room to check in it was only 141. Got to room. The door was stuck swollen from water moisture in air. The floors were wet and the suite was molded. Kids got sick after we left. Very disappointed. Will never use hotel.com again as I was overcharged and they shouldn’t even have rooms like this if it was effected from any hurricanes

All the staff down to the maintenance workers you meet in the hall are very friendly and treat you like family. Selena always greeted us each day and was helpful in every way, and our housekeeper Selena who ended up being like family was always attentive and made sure we never went without anything and was always very polite. We Loved the Hawaiian Inn it needs a lot of updates which they were working on every day, so if you want a sterile perfect hotel this is not it, but if you can get past all that needs updated and just enjoy the Beautiful pool and the Beautiful Ocean Views which are so close and beautiful. I have never been in a hotel with such a Beautiful View at such a great price. We highly recommend the Hawaiian Inn we enjoyed it and hope you do too!!
