Bahia Principe Luxury Akumal - All Inclusive

We were accommodated in the renovated Building 47, which was very well located—close to the pool, beach, and buffet restaurant. The weather was excellent, and we spent a lot of time enjoying the sea and beach. During the first week, the food selection was noticeably better than in the second week. Popular items such as grilled shrimp or fried stuffed pig were often finished within the first 1–1.5 hours and were not always replenished. Guests with different bracelet colors (purple, green) use the same buffet, which made it difficult for the staff to keep up with cooking and refilling dishes. Food labels were sometimes missing or mixed up, Breakfast felt repetitive, with many plates of bacon mainly used to fill space rather than provide variety. Cold cuts were limited to only four types, and the cheese selection was small. On a positive note, the à la carte restaurants were excellent and provided a much better dining experience than the buffet. Some small improvements could also enhance the overall comfort, such as adding hooks to beach umbrellas and providing larger, more comfortable chairs on the balconies.

Just a beautiful place. So well maintained, good food, and location, location, location. Right on the water. 18 different restaurants for an all inclusive experience above most others. Throw in a couple of snack bars by the pools, regular buffets, and you can eat pretty well anytime of day. Drinks included, so just bring some tip money. A sports bar that has many live events on a multitude of tv's. A casino and a straw market. Trams take you anywhere on the property so no car rental needed. Bahia tries pretty hard to make your vacation special. We keep on coming back as it represents a good return for our vacation dollar.

I had previously stayed solo at Bahia Principe Sian Kaan and enjoyed it, but it was not the right fit for a trip with my partner. I wanted easy beach access and a more vibrant yet relaxing atmosphere, so I chose Bahia Principe Luxury Akumal for our first vacation together. It turned out to be the perfect choice and far exceeded our expectations. From the minute we arrived, the service was outstanding. After a long red eye flight, being greeted with sparkling wine and a cool towel felt incredible. José at reception welcomed us with so much warmth and even upgraded us to the Adults Only Junior Suite Deluxe since our room category was no longer available. It was a thoughtful surprise that really set the tone for our trip. The room originally had two double beds, but the team quickly converted them into a king setup. While an actual king bed would have been ideal, the room was still beautiful, clean and extremely comfortable. A very special thank you goes to Sofia in Guest Services. She was exceptional throughout our stay and genuinely went above and beyond. She checked in with us often, made sure everything was perfect and helped make my boyfriend’s very first trip to Mexico special. Her kindness and professionalism truly stood out. The resort itself is extremely clean and well maintained. Every area we visited was spotless, from the pools to the restaurants to the walkways. We also explored other properties in the complex, including the brand new Bahia Principe Tequila. While it was beautiful and modern, we both felt Akumal offered better value for the money and a more relaxing environment. Akumal felt calm without being boring and lively without being noisy, which was exactly what we wanted. The food, drinks and service were excellent during our entire stay. My boyfriend especially loved the variety and quality at the restaurants. The staff were always friendly, polite and attentive. We had one small hiccup at a restaurant during the week. When our original plates were served, they were a bit cool before I said anything. The server corrected my order immediately and brought out a fresh plate that was hot and delicious. My boyfriend ate his dish as it was and enjoyed it. This was such a tiny issue and truly the only thing all week that was not perfect. Any frustrations we experienced were due to a few inconsiderate guests and had nothing to do with the resort. The staff were amazing every single day and we met many kind people throughout the week. Bahia Principe Luxury Akumal is truly a fantastic resort for couples, especially in the adults only area. It is also great for families and has a warm, inviting and very clean atmosphere everywhere you go. The value for the money is outstanding and we left already talking about our next visit. My new best resort. The staff is exceptional, they go the extra mile to make sure you have everything you need. Unlike Punta Cana where they look at you like you have two heads when you ask for something. I will never go back there again but Mexico is a totally different experience. On my last morning my room service brought me a plate of fruit, which had strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries because I couldn’t eat any melons. I hadn’t called room service for this. He just brought it to me. That was the nicest thing any staff has done for me. I can’t say nothing bad about Akima other than the big boulders in the beach area. This was the best experience I could ever have. I highly recommend it.

A wonderful hotel where I had a wonderful vacation. A strong point of this place is the professional team of staff at all levels. The hotel is impeccably decorated, clean, and offers excellent food with a wide selection. I've stayed at this chain before in the Dominican Republic and was not disappointed again. Jose, the front desk assistant, deserves special praise for his kindness and high professionalism. Thank you for making my vacation a success.

We stayed on resort for 8 days and had difficulty booking dinners all those days. Had to check availability and possible cancellations every couple of hours. Could not get into steak house or Brazilian restaurant at all- was completely full from 1730-2130 daily. Buffet got very poor over years( we ve been coming to this place for years and this year far worse. Guacamole at buffet almost always non existent as well as smoked salmon. Asked guest support to see if they can help us book anything for dinner. A man named Saltiel said “ you can see the same FULL just like I can” was the response. What do you want, it’s busy season”. Wow.. friendly support..Not coming back. Resort advertising all those gormet restaurants but in reality it’s almost impossible to get in. Do we booked out own dinner on the beach for extra $77🤷‍♂️

Beautiful resort, but really disappointed to see an ‘all-inclusive’ property constantly upselling shows and events. Experiences like the tiki beach party and Hacienda show should be included for all guests—not additional charges. It takes away from the true all-inclusive experience.

My niece (29) and I (51) stayed here from 12/1/25 - 12/5/25 and, overall, we had a great time. Although there were some hiccups during our stay, I would definitely recommend a vacation here. The resort is absolutely beautiful and with well-maintained grounds. The pools are magnificent. The beach is beautiful, but it is a little rocky in most places (Pro-tip: Swim shoes). The a la carte restaurants are top-notch but get Fully-booked very quickly, so make your reservations as soon as possible if you're eyeing a particular restaurant (they were not very accommodating to walk-ins). Location: 10/10 Rooms: 7/10 - I wish I could rate higher but our particular room had power problems throughout our stay and several buildings lost hot water on our last day. Service: 8/10 - Guest Services could be a little more accommodating, but all the staff were super-friendly and helpful. Cleanliness: 10/10 Noise Level: 9/10 - It wasn't too crazy, but if you're looking for a quieter experience, I'd recommend booking a building further away from the lobby or pools. This has part has nothing to do with the hotel, but if you fly into Cancun International (CUN): DO NOT GET SCAMMED by the taxis... They are like a school of piranhas feeding on a carcass of meat...

We travelled to Mexico for our wedding as a party of 8. We had the most amazing time during our 12 day stay including the wedding itself. The whole day was amazing from start to finish, with the staff working really hard to ensure we had a special celebration. Our wedding planner Jasmin was brilliant and kept us informed of the process and information months before our big day. We used JJ Studio for our photography and are really pleased with the style, quality and finish of the images. Joel and his team really captured the essence of our day and family and we are so thrilled with the finished images. They will take pride of place in our home as a special reminder of our amazing time in magical Mexico. I highly recommend JJ Studio for any special photos you may want from your holiday or destination wedding.

Overall, we had a superb experience at the Akumal resort. We got married, surrounded by family and friends. Jazmin, our wedding coordinator made the day itself magical. We’d highly recommend this resort for a destination wedding. Also, we utilized JJ Studio, specifically Joel, as our wedding photographer, and he was amazing!! The photos were outstanding and so much more than we were expecting. We were in the fence as to whether or not to use a photographer, and we are so thankful we did! We highly recommend using JJ Studio! They were responsive, professional and delivered a superb product.
