Marriott's Timber Lodge

Located steps away from the Gondola and the center of the “Village”, this Marriott Vacation property is the perfect location for a family winter vacation and/or winter sports (skiing/snowboarding). We arrived using the South Tahoe Airporter Shuttle from Reno Airport which leaves 230pm and 410pm (confirm times in advance) and is $60/person round trip. The shuttle is 1hr 25mins long. Get off the 3rd stop at Harrahs, and walk towards Margaritaville on the main road. The resort will be on the left hand side (less than 10 minutes). Tip: It’s right beside the transit center where you can take the Heavenly Shuttle if the Gondola is not working. The Timber Lodge is a large property with 5 floors of connected buildings and rooms. Arriving around 4pm on a Thursday, check-in was a breeze and Front Desk friendly. I had requested a 2BRM on the quieter side of the resort which is exactly what we got. There were reviews about the resort area being loud, which wasn’t the case during our stay except for maybe the weekend. This is most likely due to the resorts location being at the center of the Village where there are plenty of people and where bands play during the evenings. The rooms are your standard 2BRM Lock-off villa. There were 2 Pull-Out couches (1 in the Living Room and 1 in the 2nd bedroom) that worked well if you needed more beds. The beds were comfortable, but the pillows were a little flat and worn. The Master bath had a large jacuzzi tub and separate shower. There is also the standard bath/shower in the 2nd bathroom. There are HDTVs in all the rooms, unfortunately there were technically glitches during our stay which Facilities fixed quickly. The kitchen had large fridge, microwave, toaster, oven, coffee maker, plates, cups, glasses, utensils, pots and pans, and cooking utensils. You can buy groceries at the nearby Target (recommended), and there is also a Safeway 2 miles away if needed. There are several grills located in the pool area which worked out well if you wanted to grill some meats for lunch or dinner. Tip: Bring your own lighter since the electric starter did not work during our stay. There is a medium size gym which wasn’t busy located on the first floor with cardio equipment on one side and free weights on the other side. There is also a game room for kids located near the lobby. The only restaurant attached to the resort is called Fire & Ice, which we didn’t try because there are so many restaurants to choose from within walking distance. There is a Starbucks located across the Gondola, but I would recommend Noel’s which is a longer walk past Harrahs casino, but is well worth it. There is also plenty of shopping available within walking distance including ski/snowboard rental shops in case you didn’t bring your gear. Overall a great location and stay, and highly recommended especially if you are going to ski or snowboard with your family. Unfortunately the weather didn’t cooperate with us during this 2025 holiday season (i.e. atmosphere river…) so I would recommend booking closer to mid-March instead when you can be guaranteed more snow and have the entire mountain open.

What a solid, high quality experience. As a Marriott Bonvoy customer visiting Tahoe for the first time I researched a great deal before deciding on which property to book. At some point I had reservations in both Timber Lodge and Grand Residences. After reading reviews on FB bonvoy groups I decided to go with Timber Lodge, and I am so glad I did! Lets address some of the main complains here on TripAdvisor: 1. Noisy resort: you are literally in the middle of all action in Tahoe. BEST location ever. If you come during low season, it is still busy, but you have greater chances of getting a quieter room. At check in, all I had to do was to ask for a quieter unit and boom, got the very last room in the far corner of the building - far away from the jacuzzi’s, ping pong table, etc. it was perfect. 2. No room service; at check in they tell you they dont offer room service unless requested. Simple as that. Request if you need it. 3. Valet only: 35 dollars per night. Easily request your car via app, several times a day, no limit. 35 dollars for a place where everything you buy is 20 bucks it is not bad. Take it and stop complaining. Everyone was beyond nice, polite and always smiling. Property was very well maintained, room (1 bedroom villa) was better than some airbnbs we have rented. Although the building is of age, they do an amazing hob maintaining it. Cannot wait to return! Jacuzzi was great, gym even greater. And did I mention the location?

Only issue we had was only 1 elevators worked at the time but still perfect location makes up for it all.
