Rodeway Inn Monterey Near Fairgrounds

When I tell you these people charged my husband's card every day for a week its not an exaggeration. My family and I had to get new linens and towels, we had to go get cleaning supplies at the store to clean everything, the mattress felt like the box springs, and the service was horrible. I have never had a worse experience. This was my husband's Father's day/ Birthday present to experience his childhood before we move East. Now our bank account is in the negative because this manager takes money and then refunds it everyday. My bank can't say it's fraud because he refunds it but I'm missing $200. I'm so disappointed and disgusted.

Super run down. No iron or hairdryer in room. Wallpaper peeling. Beds seem newer, everything else needs replaced/freshened up.

At first sight from the outside the property didn’t look so bad

The room was darkly lit, as soon as I opened the door it recked of cigarettes. I didn’t know tie as possible for a room to smell that way. I felt so gross and dirty inside the room, it smelled of dirty sheets too. I didn’t want to be in there any longer so I quickly went to the guy to ask for a new room. He denied us a new room and he said “I give you spray” (for the cigarette smell) it was disgusting he takes us to the laundry room, which also looks gross and dirty and pulls out the knockoff brand of spray and gives it to us so we can stay at this room. Obviously spray isn’t going to get rid of that smell only mask it, they should’ve opened a window and tried to clean better prior to our stay. So we deny the spray we say we need a new room or refund he sort of chuckles to himself and says no refunds. Imagine how I felt, I had to contact customer service and I’ve yet to find out if my refund ended up being approved or not, it was an overly stressful experience. I can’t in good conscience recommend this place. I wish I had taken pictures before hurrying out the door, I was just in such a hurry to get out.

There nothing not to like about it

The room was clean, but the electrical outlet didn;t work, the mirror was broken, we request change the room, because next room was smoking marihuana, and our room was smelling terrible, they did change the room.

Needed a place to stay on a budget wasn’t expecting the room to be that bad, but that’s what you get for the price.
