Very convenient place to stay. Not the most updated but clean and quiet. Food was good and again, convenient. Friendly staff and lovely views. Close to the ranger station and easy to go see the stars over Big Meadows at night.

Loved it. Very fun, beautiful, and serene experience. Just wish the wifi was a little stronger outside the main building

"VERY DISAPPOINTED!!"

2.0

The first thing you need to know is that $279 per night does not guarantee you a room with A/C. We made a quick trip back to the lobby and luckily we were able to get transferred to a room with air as it was mid July. Once we got to our new room we quickly noticed the poor conditions. The curtains were water stained and moldy, the patio hadn't been swept or cleaned for the season and the bathroom was so outdated it felt like you stepped back into the 1960,s. Honestly the entire resort needs an upgrade. The grounds were very sloppy with dirty lawn furniture and old leaves from last fall lying all around the cabins. The restaurant and tap room (also no A/C) need an upgrade as well. We wanted to order pizza and were told that the pizza oven had been struck by lightning a few weeks ago and still wasn't fixed. The next evening we decided to have dinner at Skyland. WOW!!! What a difference! The grounds were beautiful and well maintained, the restaurant and bar were very inviting. There was a large deck for outside seating with a beautiful view and the food was DELICIOUS! Bottom line, if you're planning a trip to Shenandoah it would be wise to book your stay at Skyland.

You don't need to visit multiple overlooks in the skyline drive if you stay here. Easy 5 min hike of Black Rock trail on premise will be sufficient. It truly was a hidden gem for fantastic view! There was no air conditioner but a portable fan in my room. It wasn't super hot in July but a ceiling fan would have been nice.

Really nice place to stay. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Dining was reasonably priced, short hikes nearby, and fun to watch deer in evening.

Yes, there are bugs (flying insects and creepy crawlies but NOT roaches) that get in the rooms. They are not pristine but the rooms are clean and in an excellent location. The amenities worked for us (dining, shops with provisions, close to the visitor center, refrigerator in the room) but you really come to rest your head between hikes and take in the views. We were happy with our stay.
