Hyatt House Pleasant Hill

Do not be misled by the photos or reviews. This was by far the worst Hyatt experience I have ever had. I booked two nights under two separate reservation numbers, and in hindsight, that turned out to be a very wise decision. After checking in on the first night, I canceled my second reservation immediately because I did not want this hotel to ruin my trip. It was late at night, raining heavily, and I was exhausted after a long drive. Despite traveling with a lot of luggage, I was assigned a room that was the farthest from the elevator. At check-in, the staff was unfriendly, and there was no acknowledgment or benefit offered despite my Hyatt membership. The room itself was unacceptable. The bed sheets had a strong bleach smell, yet were not even properly fitted—the mattress was visibly exposed. The room reeked of stale cigarette smoke so badly that even my 12-year-old child noticed it immediately. The sofa and table were dusty, and the microwave had not been cleaned and still had food residue inside. To make matters worse, the Wi-Fi did not work at all, which was shocking. The air conditioner was extremely noisy, and even the bathroom fan produced an unpleasant level of noise. The room was dirty, loud, and uncomfortable overall. What made this experience even more disappointing was that just one day earlier, I stayed at the Hyatt House in Irvine, which was clean, quiet, friendly, and exactly what I expect from a Hyatt property. This hotel was the complete opposite—dirty, noisy, unfriendly, and poorly maintained. Frankly, this property felt more like a motel than a Hyatt hotel. I strongly advise future guests not to rely on the photos or existing reviews when making a booking.

A staff is available to cook your eggs: omelet or scrambled. Food and beverages overall were very good.

The layout of the breakfast area was hard to navigate. Expected it to be straight across. Too many curves. Ketchup was hard to find. Glasses for juice were placed too far above eye level.

Le bruit du moteur du réfrigérateur qui se déclenche jour et nuit et fait un bruit très fort. Les chambres côtés rue très bruyantes avec le bruit de la route. Le canapé lit pas très confortable et pas de couette. La personne à l’accueil pas très compréhensible et coopératif.

Light switches not intuitive. Two electrical outlets too loose to charge phone.

Have stayed here several times. Great staff, clean and comfortable room with a full kitchen, wonderful breakfast, plenty of parking and a great central location.

It seems picky, but the microwave was confusing and difficult to operate. Some instructions available nearby would be helpful.

The Hyatt House in Pleasant Hill has been in the past and continues to be my go-to hotel when I visit the East Bay. The staff is always very helpful, the rooms and amenities are high quality and complete, the beds are comfortable and the breakfast is top-notch. The rates are very reasonable for the area as well. I’ll be back in a couple of months and will continue to stay here in the future.
