Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Muskegon Norton Shores

Under a little Construction but room was nice clean and comfortable....

We just needed a room for the night, and this worked out perfectly. We knew we would be arriving very late, and they were able to check us in ahead of time so all we had to do was pick up our room keys and go to bed. The room was spacious and comfortable, and little dated but clean and everything was on good working order. The breakfast in the morning, which is included, was nice. The location is convenient, near all the shopping and restaurants if you're just passing through the area.

Staff was excellent. Reserved a regular king with sleep sofa. Upon arrival the only available king room was for special needs without a sleep sofa.

I showed up around midnight after a long day and 3 hours of driving to find the parking lot full. I parked at a business next door and lugged my belongings into the lobby. I was then informed that they didn't have a room for me because "Expedia overbooked us." I booked through Hotel.com two weeks prior to the stay. The assistant manager said he would work on getting me a refund. Two weeks later, I still had no refund and had to contact Hotels.com, who contacted the hotel and gave me a "exception" because I had booked at a no refund rate. Laughable!

It felt clean, the rooms were clean to a pretty high standard. The breakfast worker was amazing and accommodated us even though we were late getting down. A male employee I spoke to on the phone was also wonderful and went above and beyond, but I cannot remember his name.

I paid for my stay when I made the reservation through booking.com. When I got to the front desk to check in, they told me my card showed declined even though I knew the transaction had processed and the funds were removed from my account. The front desk employee told me she needed me to swipe my card again to make the transaction go through. I was charged $200, which was not even the price of my room. I told her I had already paid and she told me the $200 was for security deposit and it would release back into my account as soon as I checked out- it is march 13 and I still do not have that money. In addition, housekeeping stole my wallet. I forgot it in the room but it being a few minutes behind to check out, as soon as the door shut behind me it was locked and I couldn’t get back in with my key. I went down to the front desk and no one was there. I waited a few minutes and no one came so I left and called the facility. They told me they would talk to housekeeping and call me back. They called back and told me my wallet was not in the room when I know for a 100% certain fact that it was. I waited a few days to see if the housekeeper would return my wallet after they stole the cash/gift cards that were in it, but they still told me they did not have my wallet. I cannot believe that this even happened. The lack of professionalism appalls me. I would rather stay someone and risk getting bed bugs than ever stay at this facility with a whole payroll of thieves.

This property was exactly as advertised. The pool is a little small. The area around is full of shopping and food options.

The hotel is extremely outdated and felt grimy. The room was unpleasant to the point where I decided to check out early and head to the Holiday Inn down the street, which was brand new and a much better option. While some of the staff were friendly, the check-in process left much to be desired. The gentleman who checked me in was unnecessarily extra, asking to see my entire wallet because my military ID wouldn’t come out easily. I travel frequently (Weekly) and have stayed at numerous Marriott and Hilton properties, and I’ve never been asked to hand over my ID—just to show it. It felt like an unnecessary hassle. As for the room, it was in poor condition. The bathtub was unusable, so I had to settle for a quick wash-up. THEM TUBS ARE NASTY!! The table between the lamp was filthy, and the area behind it was even worse. Took one look at the breakfast and knew that was a big No No. It was honestly one of the most disappointing Marriott stays I’ve had, and I will not be recommending this hotel to anyone. Definitely not your typical Marriott experience.

Room and facility was clean. The walls are super thin and could here everything going on in halls and rooms.

Stayed in a 1 bedroom suite with 2 adults and 2 teenagers. Nice room but not big enough for 4. Pull out sofa is the loveseat kind, very small.
