Hotel Suites Villasol

Very close to the airport which we wanted. FYI- no elevators which was fine for us but good for others to know. Bed was comfortable but towels although clean, they were fraying. One of them really should be put out of service and used as a cleaning rag at this point. It’s is a residential area so nothing in walking distance to grab a quick bite. We had a rental and we figured we’d go buy a few snacks and drinks to have in our room, however after we had checked in and paid, they informed us their policy is no outside food allowed to be brought in to the property. I thought they meant to the pool area which I can understand. However, I asked for further clarification and their policy includes no outside food in the room as well.

The beds were EXTREMELY lumpy and uncomfortable! The place itself was very nice and tropical but definitely not comfortable. My AC didn’t work that

The Pool!! Great for kids and adults.

Staff was almost non-existent a the pool or restaurant. You had look for them to get service. Rooms are on the smaller side. Curtains are practically see-through so the sun wakes you up pretty early. No elevators so you get a work out if your room is on the 4 floor.

Customer service at this hotel was exceptional, and the rooms were very clean. I was disappointed with the hotel pool, it was dirty and murky during our entire stay (two nights), and the pool shower was out of service. The hot water in our hotel room was inconsistent. Although we had a kitchen with a stove in our room, there was no spoons forks or knives

The pool was nice and the small gym was very useful. The upper floor rooms with verandas were great spots for relaxing on the chairs provided. The beds were comfortable and both rooms we stayed in had decent showers. The hotel kept power running for most of the time we were there via their own generator when Hurricane Erick knocked out mains power, which was super helpful. Staff were helpful and reassuring throughout the storm and its aftermath.

I'm glad the generator was there. OTOH it was very loud and was harder to sleep through than the hurricane itself. We weren't able to charge meals/drinks to the room - not sure if this was due to the hurricane or is normal but it meant taking money down to the pool which wasn't ideal for personal items security.

The layout of the hotel was lovely, super tropical and relaxing. Staff were very helpful and friendly, and made it very easy to ask questions. It was about a 15 minute walk to a strip of shops/cafes/restaurants, but other than that there was only 1 small cafe closer to the hotel which we could get our morning coffee from. If you're happy to walk in the heat for some beaches and food then this hotel is great! Didi cars were easy to order and very quick to pick up. Our room had a very good air-con unit which was much needed in the heat of Puerto Escondido. Definitely make sure to get a room with A/C.

The beds could have been a little bit more comfortable, they were a bit hard.
