The hotel’s location is excellent

I stayed at this hotel recently and was quite disappointed with the condition of the room. The room felt old and poorly maintained — for example, the shower handle was broken and one of the floor tiles was cracked. There was also a noticeable musty smell throughout the room. I had booked a Standard View Room with Two Double Beds, but the room lacked basic amenities such as a mini fridge and even a small table, which made the stay less comfortable.

Stayed at this hotel the w/e of 10/12 October. We were on a 2 week fly drive tour from the UK staying at various places in NE. We arrived late Friday afternoon and the hotel was busy checking in (we learned later) some 90 odd members of the same family on a reunion, all excited to see each other and therefore it was very noisy - not sure if we were the only guests not part of the family but it felt like it! So we accept it WAS probably busier than usual and make some allowance. Very traditional and historic building with lots of old world charm. Its seemingly needs a lot of investment however. 1. The only Lift did not work during the duration of our stay. We had to lug our own heavy cases to the second floor. Staff were too busy to help at that time but another guest kindly assisted us. 2. The room was VERY dated. Exposed pipes and wires everywhere! Old is great if done well but the furniture and carpets need some updating. As for the blinds, nets and drapes - seriously???!!!! The bed was really small, even for a couple of skinny (well my wife is) people. 3.Heating an issue, thermostat did not seem to work on the first night, lighting was a mystery. The fridge was old, rusty and needed defrosting, the door furniture/locks a curiosity. Though we didn't need the aircon I thought the location of the unit behind all the window nets and curtains was a bit odd). 4. On return to the hotel after a great day spent at Eagle Mountain we found our room had not been serviced. Seems this is not automatic if you don't actually request it so that's our fault I guess..... 5. We had a nice meal in the restaurant on the Friday night. Even though it was busy the staff worked hard and the food was to a good standard. The breakfast on the following day was poor. Probably we arrived too late (9am), it was a scrum and the food that was left was not very appetising, still cost us the full price - $50 with the usual tip.

The bed was comfortable and I enjoyed the food at the restaurant. They were having a large wedding at the hotel and made sure to never lower the game with guests not attending the wedding.

The rooms need some updating and my room was very warm even with the AC blasting and the thermostat off.

The elevator was broken and my husband had to carry our bags up three flights of stairs. Several things in our room were broken. There was a lot of visible wear and tear. The rooms need a major upgrade. The restaurant food was okay but too expensive for the quality.

Greeted on arrival by friendly staff. Nice seating area in main lobby and well decorated. Multiple seating outside on front porch with great views of the mountain range. Food in restaurant was very good for dinner and the next day for breakfast. Close proximity to downtown and only short trip to Conway. Bedroom was well decorated, clean and bed was comfortable. Good water pressure in the shower.Looking forward to staying here again.

There is nothing not to like.
