Occidental Tamarindo - All Inclusive

Great location, easy Walk to the town of Tamarindo either on the beach or by the street. An Uber is about $5 each way. We were in building 4, room was quiet, clean, comfy bed, great shower(rain head) with lots of pressure, soft towels, great A/C, mini fridge stocked daily and coffee maker. Resort itself, nicely landscaped, always chairs available although many still play the reserved towel game !! We never had any trouble getting a chair. Pool was clean, The two Ala Carte’s were fine. Buffet was the usual for an all inclusive, you could always find something you liked. The omelette and waffle stations were always great for breakfast. The service fine. All the staff were friendly and professional. Hats off to Alsonso at the bar. Last the beach and the river are amazing. You can walk for miles. Super sunsets.

resort was clean, seemed not as updated, but clean. very friendly staff. Buffet could use a better selection of food. I don't eat seafood of any kind, so my only option was chicken and rice. I was sick of eating that on day 3 and we stayed for 8 days. Also, the same dessert was served every night. A better selection would have been nice.

The place is old and needs updates. Our beds were made but the sheets don't seem to fit properly. Veronica at the front desk made us feel welcome and she was very helpful.

Edwin was the best bartender ever!!!

Bartender Edwin was fantastic and served me great every night. Looked forward to seeing him for a drink before and after dinner every night.

We enjoyed every moment of our stay at this beautiful resort. It was clean, good food and the staff were all so very kind and hardworking. One young man stood out for his friendly manner and efficiency. His smile could light up a room. Thank you, Jonathan Charues! we requested a room with 2 queen beds, we got 1 king, the room was cleaned every day, the food was less than avg. the meat was tough, dried out and chewy. the entertainment was same each night. the weather was outstanding

Costa Rica never disappoints! Stay here but explore everywhere! Beach is incredible and we did numerous day trips either Natives Way and rented a golf cart to explore local area and find howler monkeys. Great vacation with teens.

No one knows how to make drinks, except for one guy. The barmen are nice but they need to take mixology classes. Food was very poor. We tried all three restaurants and the best was Kyoto. The Italian place was horrible and we were 7 people, not one person enjoyed their meal. The buffet is VERY mid, and only good for breakfast. My two major complaints: My friend had her bag stolen from right outside the premises of the hotel, on the beach. She had put her bag under her towel and we had an eyewitness from the hotel say they saw the man who sells coconuts steal it and run off. We tried to catch him (with security’s help) and he was too far to catch, he had already made a run for it. The other sellers around him kept saying it wasn’t him that did it (they were covering for him) when we know for a fact it was infact, him. So don’t leave ANYTHING on the beach!!!! Even if it’s just outside the hotel. It’s not safe at all. Secondly: My poor friend caught the stomach flu and they had to clean up their vomit themselves. When the room stank for a full day and the cleaning staff WOULD NOT COME CLEAN despite the fact that we had alerted the front desk 5 TIMES. I am not exaggerating. Sleeping in a room which reeks from the aftermath of vomit is not acceptable, I know it’s not fun to clean that stuff up but it’s a job. We shouldn’t have to tell them 5 times and practically beg to have the room cleaned. We won’t be coming back.

Great location close to town which is walkable. Fun and lively but small enough that kids can walk by themselves without getting lost. Johan and staff are wonderful at the pool bar. Beautiful beach with rocks and tide pools. Good surfing or boogie boarding waves.
