Asbury Ocean Club Hotel

We were really looking forward to our stay—it was the day after our wedding. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a major letdown. First, the room. It is nice! I loved the open shower and the 11 ft windows are amazing. As is the little couch. That private patio was nice too. However, after taking a shower, I got stuck in the shower because the door wouldn’t open. I had to call for my husband to help me out—while he was busy fixing the toilet seat, which kept falling off. At one point, there wasn’t even a toilet seat at all. For what we paid, this kind of thing should never happen. Then there was the service. I was told, “You don’t come to us, we come to you.” That might sound great in theory, but your staff clearly didn’t get the message. I sat at the bar for 20 minutes trying to order off your menu, only to be told repeatedly, “We don’t have that.” No apology, no suggestions. The bartender even walked away mid-conversation. There were only five people at the bar. I later learned it was her second day, but that doesn’t excuse the lack of professionalism. We were charged $1,250 for this one night. Honestly, you should take notes from the Hilton at Marco Island—where I can stay for a third of the price and be treated with genuine hospitality. We did get late checkout, but only after we explained it was our wedding night. There was nothing to recognize that we were newlyweds—no congratulations, no special touch. That felt disappointing, especially at this price point. The only real highlight? Sitting outside and seeing a mother duck and her babies. That quiet moment was the best part of an otherwise frustrating experience.

Nice place. Worth the price

I had a fantastic stay at the Asbury Ocean Club Hotel! The location right by the beach is unbeatable — waking up to ocean views was truly refreshing. The staff were friendly, attentive, and went out of their way to make sure everything was perfect. The rooms were modern, clean, and comfortable, with thoughtful touches that made me feel right at home. I also enjoyed the onsite dining options and the vibrant atmosphere around the hotel. Whether you’re visiting for relaxation or a fun getaway, the Asbury Ocean Club Hotel is a top-notch choice.

Accommodations were excellent and the staff went above and beyond to accommodate all needs. The room was beautiful and the welcome message and turn down service were nice touches!

Excellent property. Location has limited high end dining and boardwalk can be noisy.

Where to begin. If I could give this hotel zero stars on TripAdvisor, I would. From the moment we arrived at the hotel we felt unwelcome. We were hoping that after a rocky start, things would get better, but they simply did not. Every touch point we had with the staff at this hotel was lacking any sort of hospitality. From taking nearly an hour to get a bucket of ice sent to a room (This is a boutique hotel with maybe 50 rooms. It’s not like we were in a 500 room hotel.) To one of the most horrendous dining experiences we’ve ever had at breakfast the following morning This was a terrible experience from start to finish. We don’t blame the poor servers that were working the restaurant that morning. They were just not set up for success and there was no management around to offer assistance. We asked to speak to a manager because we were completely underwhelmed with our experience at this hotel and just The first 15 hours Of what was supposed to be a weeklong stay. After about 10 minutes when the manager finally came out to speak to us, he offered absolutely zero consolation or someway to rectify the situation. In fact, he placed the onus on us to come up with how to rectify the situation. We both work in hospitality and own a restaurant, and it is never the guest responsibility to come up with a solution to a problem. We did finally upon checking out early meet at least one staff member, Debbie, who actually seemed to care about the fact that we had had a terrible experience and we’re checking out four nights early. She however, was not empowered to do anything for us at the time, and her general manager was in a meeting and could not deal with anything at that time. We have stated many hotels over the years and some that are absolutely luxury properties. This hotel presents itself as a luxury hotel, and the service that we received was worse than you might get at a courtyard Marriott. In fact, we stayed at the courtyard Marriott the night before we came here and the interactions we had with the staff there were infinitely better than we experienced at this so-called luxury hotel that is charging over $1000 a night for a stay. I’m sure there are plenty of other great reviews about this hotel and it even has a Michelin key for whatever that’s worth but in our experience, they are worthy of none of those things And we would never recommend anyone go to this hotel. The one bright spot of the hotel was the room. It was the only place we felt comfortable in the hotel. It was very nicely appointed and a very large room. But other than that, there is nothing good that I can say about this hotel. We are currently at a new hotel about 15 minutes away from the ocean club and from the moment we got here we felt more welcome and relaxed than at any point during our time at the Asbury Ocean club.

Its decor was subtle but pleasant and comfortable.

I got lost in the hallways. I didn’t realize they were the outer edges of the building and followed a lines of a square. I would have liked the exit nearest the elevator to tell me the elevator was on the other side of the door.
