Location is so close to everything

Bit outdated but ok

The folks at reception were very helpful and informative.

I had a World Wallet card and wanted to use it for the deposit which was $600. I thought that was rather high. However I had to draw cash out from their Lobby ATM and got stung for bank fees. I did address this with the owner later.

Old world charm and friendly staff

This hotel is full of old world charm with a lobby seemingly from a different era. You also get old fashioned friendliness from the staff. It boasts of a very likeable pub and cafe. The place is within walking distance of the shops and many restaurants in James Bay Square as well as downtown Victoria. There are lovely, scenic walks nearby at Beacon Hill Park and the coastal trail. It's not expensive either.

The room was small and the view blocked totally by the adjacent building but that's just an observation of one room.

Great location. Friendly front desk staff. Petite room was adequate size. Clean room.

Note: Because it's an older heritage building, there is no A/C. Got a little warm on our last day, so had to open the window and use the small fan.

What a lovely find. People are friendly and welcoming with a sense of humour. Room was comfy, clean, nostalgic. The dining room downstairs serves homemade food that was delicious. Staff in dining room were great. We had reservations at The Empress Hotel for afternoon tea also fabulous. It was a short lovely walk to tea.

All was great.
