Wayside Inn

Absolutely perfect location. Staff is stellar! Room is very comfortable, clean, and wonderfully charming. Affordable and wonderful accommodations. So many places to choose from in carmel but this is a nice choice. Close to everything! The chocolate chip cookies and coffee were delicious.

The bathroom set up was not ideal for a "roomate" situation because there is no real door on the bathroom, just in the bedroom and hallway leading to the bathroom/ bedroom. But we were able to make it work and think all of the rooms are different. I hear they are also going to be renovating soon.

The location couldn’t be better. We had originally booked the kitchen suite during Covid when we wanted to make sure we had the supplies (microwave, refrigerator, dishes, utensils) in case CA went back to take out only restaurant service while there (it didn’t so we enjoyed outdoor eating). We did find we really enjoyed the convenience of having the kitchen however for leftovers, heating morning pastries from next door,etc so continued to book this 2 room suite. We also like the location of being on the 1st floor. For this visit we had daily cleaning as well as access to daily homemade cookies, lemon water, coffee,etc next door in the office which was a nice bonus. Our only complaint is that they need to monitor the 2 parking lots more & not allow monster type trucks to park in the lot. We caused damage to our vehicle backing out of our parking space as it was nearly impossible to do so. Other guests who saw us trying to get out agreed that vehicle shouldn’t have been parked there.

Dated property which could use upgrades in bathroom, plugs and USB ports near the bed, otherwise comfortable and convenient.

The Wayside Inn was the perfect location - easy walk to everything. The staff was really nice, the room was large and they provide free water bottles for carrying around town. They even had classical music playing in our room upon arrival - so relaxing. One of our favorite places on our California road trip!

Couldn’t ask for a better location.. The room was impeccable…….. every amenity was of good quality. Loved the Jacuzzi tub. From check-in to check out……. perfection!! Definitely recommend difference, looking forward to our next stay there.

The room was nice. Fireplace was on entire time we were in the room enjoyed that. Kitchen stocked with everything you need. Bed was way soft but turned out slept well. Over all it was a wonderful stay.

The bathroom had a very strong smell of mildew. I don’t care for stairs as I’ve had knee replacements.

Staff was very responsive to our requests. Rooms were a little outdated but very comfortable and spacious. Bathroom was clean with plenty of amenities. Easy walk to ding and shops. Front office had coffee, cookies, and snacks.
