Park Royal Beach Huatulco

El equipo de animación le echa muchas ganas a su trabajo. Los shows muy buenos. Las albercas me encantaron. La recamara es super amplia y con balcón, me encantó! La comida del buffet estaba buena.

Al principio tuvimos una mala experiencia con la recepción, muy de malas y con actitud prepotente. No se sentía una calidad bienvenida. Y también en el buffet la persona que hacia las pastas orientales muy grosera. Fuera de eso lo disfrutamos mucho. Los carritos me desesperaban que tardaban en pasar y mejor caminamos.

We had an amazing time here at Park Royal. There are two restaurants that I would recommend, the Italian and the Mexican. The buffet wasn’t great but the restaurants were. The service was fantastic. Aldair was an excellent bartender very kind and super friendly with good English skills. We loved the quiet peaceful atmosphere of the resort and will definitely return in the future.

Pros * The resort is small and intimate which meant the pools, beach, buffet, and à la cartes never felt crowded.
 No waiting. Ever. Chairs? Available. Tables? Ready. Stress? None. * The resort was very clean always appreciated. * Shuttles ran constantly. The resort is built on a hill, so everything is either up or down (leg day, vacation edition), but the shuttle waits were never more than a few minutes. * Although not beachfront from the lobby, it was less than a 5‑minute walk on flat ground easy peasy. * The pools were the perfect temperature, even though I don’t believe heated, they were the perfect temperature! Never cold. * No food complaints whatsoever. Everything we had was good, and sometimes great. The Cons * Most of the entertainment was in Spanish. This may be seasonal, as many Mexican families vacation during this time. * I wouldn’t recommend this resort for anyone who doesn’t enjoy walking or has mobility issues. While there weren’t excessive stairs, the inclines and declines can be steep in places. This didn’t bother me at all but it’s worth noting. * Currency matters. Pesos are preferred, and many places won’t accept anything else. If they do accept foreign bills, they must be in pristine condition no folds, no marks, basically untouched by human hands. 
If you’re looking for ultra luxury and fancy, this particular resort may not be your style, but I’m completely okay with simple.

Smaller resort and less busy made this vacation enjoyable. Language barrier with a large percentage of staff but was manageable. Food was more authentic and always found something I liked.

All the staff had great attitude except the check in staff, had to call out the manager to get access to my reservation.

The check in process is very slow, had to contact the manager to get access to my reservation, unfortunately my kids left their passports in my house in another state and had no access to the information they were requesting. Thankfully the manager approved the check in.

Well, I didn't get to really see any of it this time since I managed to trip down the ONE step in my suite. It cracked me up and not in a fun way. I've been to this hotel many times (12?) and have most years been impressed with the level of service, but this year they went over the top. Abi managed to get me a doctor and some med techs to the hotel very quickly after I was found. They took X-rays, examined the affected parts, bandaged me up and said 3 weeks bed rest for my foot. So I didn't get to see the changes that seem to have been made around the pool area and maybe other places too. But Abi, the jovial genius with the Manager tag, managed to scrounge me a wheelchair so I could at least get around the suite after a week or so. He also made sure I got a meal or two a day. I was lucky that I had my friend Helen, who lives in Crucecita, and who was able to stay with me a lot. The hotel gave her a parking pass which was lovely of them. She wrangled ice, snacks and extra meals, made sure I was taking my medication and was just and all-around ministering angel. I have no idea what I would have done without her. My room was clean and well-kept. The hotel is not as noisy as some which I really appreciate, but I think corporate is trying to change that and go after a different demographic. We'll see. I did make a really good friend though. A wasp I met on my balcony (the balconies are HUGE) and who was drooping with thirst shared my water one day and just kept coming back. Loved that little guy. When I brought up naming him, Abi thought William suited him. So if you should happen to run into William, do say Hello for me, please?
