"The reviews online were all so good, that's why we choose it. This place was a disaster!"

4.0

Well, the location is good.

The room wasn't ready when we got there. We were told to go 'walk around" for 40 minutes. There was NO coffee in the morning which was a first for me after staying at a hundred hotels. It seemed we were in the 1940's, but NOT in a nostalgic way.

"Timeless southern charm"

10.0

“Step into timeless Southern charm at Malaga Inn—where ivy-draped balconies, glowing courtyard lanterns, and the gentle hush of hidden gardens welcome you like an old friend. Here, the beauty goes beyond the walls. The owners and staff greet you with genuine Southern hospitality—warm, attentive, and effortlessly thoughtful—making every guest feel seen, cared for, and right at home. Each room carries its own story—rich with historic character, soft linens, and antique touches that invite you to slow down and settle in. Step outside and the courtyard becomes your private retreat, with trickling fountains, lush greenery, and a calm that feels worlds away. Yet just beyond this peaceful escape, historic downtown Mobile is only minutes away—alive with charm, culture, dining, and music. You can wander cobblestone streets, explore local shops, and soak in the spirit of the city… then return to the quiet comfort waiting just for you. It’s the kind of place that feels like a perfect Southern movie set—golden evenings, warm conversations, and moments that feel effortlessly cinematic. Come for the charm, stay for the people, explore the city, and leave already dreaming of your return.”

"We had a great time with each other, the hotel was a little disappointing. It was a good location."

7.0

All the staff was very accommodating and nice.

We were on the third floor and the elevator was out. So for women in their 70s had to haul all their luggage up and down. The only ice machine was out as well. We went into the kitchen to get bagged ice.

"An experience I'm glad to have had."

7.0

Loved the history of the place. Huge potential.

I like shabby, but the hotel was a bit more run down than simply shabby. It felt overwhelmed, as I imagine old buildings are constantly needy. The staff who got such great ratings were maybe off duty when we were there? They did their jobs.

"Very disappointed."

6.0

So disappointed. We got bumped up to a nicer room. There was used soap in the bathroom and no new soap. There was a huge hole under the bath tub facet. I was afraid something was going to crawl out of it. All the amenities for coffee but no coffee pot (they are working that). The tv was unplugged, took a while to figure out why-the remote didn’t work in turning it off. Kudos to cleaning staff. Very clean.

"A delightful small hotel well located in Mobile"

10.0

Malaga Inn is a darling, beautiful hotel. The room was spacious and comfortable, well furnished and clean. The best part was the courtyard - it has a very New Orleans or Latin (Spain or Latin America) feel to it, with beautiful plants, a fountain, and comfortable chairs. Ideal for a relaxing evening conversation and drink. The staff were helpful, providing information about the city, sights, and restaurants. It is well located, across from an attractive small, not too far from sights in the central city, and within walking distance of a small restaurant district where we enjoyed a delicious meal. We would definitely stay there again and highly recommend it.
